Nazuna's half vampire traits meant nothing in the end. My head cannon was that after some years they meet up and decide to hook up again. Passion and stuff she drinks his blood, she would simply revery to her human age (30ish) and whether they hook up or whatever would be properly defined. Not that half assed mid way ending. Concluded without a conclusion. Like the author just got bored and said fk it

I didn't have a problem with the ending for ko and nazuna but there were unanswered questions related to the whole story/plot and about other vamps outside of Japan, and since susuki has been traveling the world, we could find out more about those mysteries like how other hostile vamps interact, how vamps first came to exist, what if major historical or political figures are vamps, etc. We even got to see a sneak peak at one of susuki's adventures when we heard from anko/kyouko so if we had a spin-off with susuki before or after the events of call of the night, I feel like it could help refine the plot of the series a little bit more.

I really liked a theory I read which was basically Kou's half vamp transformation IS his full transformation as Nazuna is only technically half vamp herself. Its also the only case any of the characters have heard of "half" vamps making both of them anomalies. This would also mean that the 1 year rule would have been absolved as he already "turned", and for whatever reason his blood was still good enough to drink (He was already half vamp and having his blood sucked which Im assuming vamps cant drink vamp blood). It also makes any potential death via succ even less likely imo due to it being between two people who are already vamps (and half at that). I feel like the death aspect is heavily rooted to only pure humans as a form of literally regaining your humanity via a fleeting love. The fact Kou still can use his half-vamp powers a year+ after gaining them. It may well mean that he did, in fact, get turned. Only, his change matched Nazuna's nature, so where a normal vampire would make another vampire, Nazuna being a special case caused Kou to get stuck in a 'middle' state as well. tl; dr: Kou did, in fact, basically become a vampire from Nazuna's bites, but because of her unique birth, he's not a 'normal' vampire.

I gunned through all 200 chapters in a few days and I've gotta say, it was an ending of all time. When people say "It doesn't need to be some crazy plot twist. Not sure why, but this video really helped me out. Originally, this ending broke me. Not because It was sad, but because of 3 things. 1. How Ko seems really unfazed after Nazuna left, my guess being that he, once again put on a facade. 2. How it ends so abruptly, I mean, yeah, they meet, but what then??? There are so many possibilities it`s annoying and depressing. 3. This anime made me realize that love like this doesn`t exist IRL. We all get the idea that anime characters are fictional, but I think most of us watch anime in hope that one day we`ll encounter the events we dream of. It`s so sad that this shows you a rather "utopic" world were things like friendship, love, pure intentions, fun and really cool characters (as personalities) exist, but than it hits you like a hammer when you realize it`s all fiction and stuff like this is specific to fiction and unattainable in real life.

Personally found the ending thematically appropriate for the story. Ever since chapter one this story has been about the mellowness, somberness, and solitude of the night. It comes and goes, and when it comes so to does a sort of comfort but slight thrill for what the night may hold (whether it be a bunch of drunk dudes or an empty swing set) and Nazuna basically represented the night. She came and left at a pretty major point in Kous life, she brought him thrill, comfort, and a feeling of mellowness and familiarity and even solitude with just the two, with no group of friends or school to worry about. This didn't feel like an "ending" of sort but a start of another night or adventure with the two that ended 2-3 years ago. Sure the ending wasn't as bombastic as I expected, considering the build up of action from Kiku's arc, but calling it mid, or even bad would be a disservice it's perfect for a story like this. Two friends hangin out, but now they realize they're more than just friends.

@Lifesgood59811 ай бұрын
The way i interpreted the ending of call of the night was a theme of coexistence, vampires and their many traits are like a force of nature with no one to blame, not even god. Kou and Nazuna were doomed from the start by the way vampires are, the old lady that nazuna was with represented the fact that nazuna would never grow old, she would outlive kou. With the nature of vampires nazuna could never be with kou but kou finds a solution, his literal solution of working around nazuna being a vampire is representing how people can never avoid or stop higher powers life is never thar optimistic so the only thing people can do is learn to accept and coexist with these things, luck, tragedy, death,and in nazunas case vampirism. The ending traces back all the way to the start of call of the night when kou couldn't coexist with his life snd things out of his control, his original solution was to become a vampire or simply escape/avoid these higher powers and things out of his control, the story of call of the night is a message to those unsatisfied with life and things they can't control, people who stay up late and try to escape life, it tells them that no matter how hard they try, how late they stay up, these things cant be avoided, instead all a person can do is learn to coexist with them like kou and nazuna. Life is just unfair like that

as a former drug addict, i can relate to nazunas craving. its almost impossible to forget your drug of choice. you will always return to it - doesnt matter for how long you stood sober. this toxic relationship will continue until your last day. or, there is another interpretation: never fall in love with lifestock, otherwise you will die from hunger.

Ok, so I just found this out. The last time I was reading this, I was on chapter 140ish, and seeing this has kind of gotten me nervous since I was really into the manga and hearing it has ending gets me excited but the title of the video does not. I'm going to come back to this video to give my own thoughts, but hopefully, the ending is at least somewhat satisfactory. My expectations are pretty low as of now lol but at least we even got and ending
@SanSa52211 ай бұрын
One of the most underwhelming endings ive read in a while but looking back it wasnt just the last chapter, the story after the Hoshimi Kiku arc felt as if they had thrown aside almost all the interesting side characters and it focused mainly on a pretty absurd dilemma if you ask me, Nazuna cant bite Ko bcs she loves him but why didnt he never became a full vampire? No one knows, then why does he still have half vampire abilities and how do they work? Do he age like a person or not? Can he still become a vampire? And why did he gave a bag of his blood to Nazuna in the last chapter? Isnt that the same as her bitting him herself??? Aside from all the questions left unanswered, the story always felt as an instrospection in the concepts of affection and what it means to get close to someone or in the words "falling in love" but the series never even proposes a clear answer aside from: "you just know it bcs you always feel like wanting to be with that person". Its not the worst answer but is not an instrospection worth 200 chapters, at the end it just feels like the story didnt end, when I opened the chapter and saw it had only 22 pages it was depressing, at the end the story feels like a lot of wasted potential and maybe the mangaka wanted to end in a neat number like 200 idk

this series is an enigma to me. It seemed like it wanted to be a plethora of things but the author got tired of writing for it and ended with this. the ending works, sure, but there's SO MANY open ended questions and so little reflection on the characters met along the way and it just feels....empty. I don't mind the way they handled Nazuna's and Ko's relationship because frankly i was ready for Nazuna to leave and never see Ko again but there was also a childlike hope there that he would fully turn and they would just make the most of it as two semi-immortal beings wandering the world together seeing different sights just always at night.

One thing I always thought was that Kou could become a vampire and they could live together forever since Nazuna wasn't turned from a human and so they wouldn't die through love. It's been a while since I last read the manga but that always irked me as a massive plot hole because it was never really explained that they couldn't do it. Not even a mention, which I think was an oversight by the author as I think it would've been an acceptable way to do it where the possibility of them surviving isn't 0 and it would provide for a good ending which the fans would be happy with.

Hey man, just dropping this here. The old lady Nazuna is living with was alive. She doesn't react much but we can see on the SFX that she actually nods (コクコク) when Nazuna talks to her. I think the implication was that Nazuna was hiding from Kou by going to that foreign orphanage which the old lady manages, and she is helping out there.

i definetly didnt like the story ending, maybe im wrong but this is just my opinion from what i remember of the story but, i thought being half vampire would play a major part on falling in love with a human, like, the fact of being in love would be ok for a half vampire or something, in the end the half-vampire plot was heavily forgotten. i also thought nazunas mother would be a major plot line, but again, its left forgotten, and mostly unexplored for what its worth. i feel like the last 2 chapters were meant to be 50 or more but got cramped into 2 for convenience. no explanation of the half transformation from kou either. like theres a lot of loose plot lines. and i dont dislike bitter sweet endings, rather i enjoy them, but this one felt empty or undeserved as if they ran out of time to explain and jumped to the end. shame, this one of the few manga series i constantly kept looking for updates since day 1.

I started reading Call of the Night at a particular point in my life, it comforted me, I saw myself in Kou, the struggle with my own identity, not really wanting to be Human. Due to that, I wanted a specific ending to the story, I wanted one where Kou completely rejects his life as a Human, and ends-up becoming a full Vampire, slowly forgetting his old life, his old struggles, his Humanity. I didn't need him to end-up with Nazuna, I just wanted him to end-up as fully inhuman, someone who has willingly rejected his Humanity, and for that to be seen/presented as a good thing. The ending we got is fine, it works, I just wanted something very different due to my own personal investment in the series.

But basically, an "open end" isn't an end ? So... what ? We just have to imagine the end from all the piece Koto gave us ? But it left so many pieces... Like.. the whole half human-half vampire thing. Both of them are at this point. One is a human who can transform, the other, a vampire hybrid... and ?? What are we supposed to do with that piece ? That since Nazuna isn't a vampire cursed by love ? (she is a natural born vampire, she didn't became one by falling in love) so the fact that Kō will die if she bite him doesn't apply ? BUUUUUT Since Kō don't want to forget Nazuna and his love for her, he don't want to became a full vampire.. BUT, since he's already (half) one, that means he can alter his aging and can live with her or that nothing more will happens and they just can live their life? Other thing... Mahiru chose death, and they died at the sunrise, but does the curse killed Mahiru, or the sun itself ? Kō simply said "no way" when Nazuna (jokingly?) ask him to play tags until their death, and we know that Nazuna always loved to tease kō, so after those event when they were back together after 3 years, they simply said "fuck it we ball" and stayed together, trying to surpass this curse (if there is one, since we don't know if the rules are still the same for them) or they separated again, to get back again one of tree years later, then separated for years, etc.... ? And most importantly... Nazuna... was already in love in the train for Hokkaido, lets be honnest, and NOTHING HAPPENED and for Kō... SAME SHIT he just haven't realised yet because he didn't know what love was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.............. WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE

So basically the author set up the whole thing, maybe without intending even, to be unable to work out without some deus ex machina, therefore making the whole thing a stylistic nice journey, but an unsatisfying one from the start. They should really learn that happy endings are not a sign of bad art and 'you can only cherish through loss' is a Japanese mainstay just for the sake of it, not because it is a good trope.

I have an idea like this: 1. Kou is a half-vampire and in the movie it doesn't mention what it would be like if vampires fell in love and sucked blood. So I think the ending everyone wants the most right now is that Kou lives with nazuna and falls in love with her. more. At the same time, they also discovered a couple with the same situation as them before, so they decided to help and those two couples will be the new part of call of the night. 2.kou and nazuna will still live happily together (like the example of a half-vampire and a vampire falling in love) but they gave birth to a child and in the future that child will lead another guy into the world. The family's old path opens up more call of the night development directions for their children.

In the first place, the rule was about not being able to become a vampire after the one year time limit had passed. Kou is technically already a vampire, though he's able to essentially swap between a human and vampiric state. There's no reason that "progression" would just suddenly disappear. Since it's already there, it was pretty much common sense it would stay. I'd argue that this is actually better than being full vampire. For all we know, he would've just become a normal vampire if he changed fully. But in his "partial vampire" state, he's clearly a lot more powerful than any actual vampire. So maybe Kou can't actually become a true vampire anymore. But it doesn't matter, because he's already capable of gaining all the abilities of one as he wishes, without the downsides. If I we were trying to guess how this worked, it's likely partly due to Nazuna being a special kind of vampire, combined with the odd circumstances of Kou's situation. If we were speaking logically, humans in this world are essentially like a "fuel" for the abilities that vampires have. Vampires cannot produce that fuel, and humans cannot use it. But Kou is both, so theoretically, his part vampire state would be akin to having an infinite source of fuel for his powers. If we assume that as long as one is atleast partly human, that their emotions and blood can be fuel for vampires, then it wouldn't matter how inhuman Kou is, as long as he retains even the slightest bit of humanity, he would only become more powerful as he gets closer to becoming a vampire, as long as he doesn't actually become one. This would explain the ridiculous levels of power he spawned in with. So the ending was fine. But it would have been nice to have one last arc of just pure slice of life. Like c'mon, I know everyone would love that. And we should get to see Kou fighting some vampires with his newfound mastery over his abilities.
@6flg5 ай бұрын
I actually agree on this one, Nazuna is actually a half vampire like Kou, and she stopped growing after reaching like 20 years or something around that, so if u think about it, Kou will also stop getting older at some point and he won't die from old age like a basic human, which means that after he finishes school and stuff like learning about vapmpires, he will most likely end up happily together with Nazuna, not worrying about any danger, so that's basically a happy/open ending😍

I have two competing theories: Kyo and Nazuna parting ways was supposed to be the end and the publisher balked because it was too depressing, or the author didn't have a clear vision for what they wanted to do so they just sort of left it open ended. I like the first theory simply because having them part ways and letting the story come to a close is thematically appropriate. Heartwrenching, but it really works with the themes of the stories. But, no sane publisher was going to let that slide, so they demanded the audience be given some sort of closure. Unfortunately, I think the second is more likely. Writing is hard, and no part of crafting a story is more difficult than drawing it to a close. A lot of writers jump feetfirst into a story without having a clear idea of how it's supposed to end, and then find themselves stuck. That's not so bad if you're indie or selfpub and working on your own timetable, but if you've got a hard deadline to meet, you need something, and a serviceable ending now beats a perfect one three weeks too late.

I HAVE A HYPOTHESIS FOR KOU’S VAMPIRISM‼️ so in mythology and lore, words have a big play like how simply saying “come in” or saying your name holds a lot of weight. I’m wondering if it was similar to that where Kou simply wanting to fall in love and engaging romantically with Nazuna was enough to start his vampirism but not complete it fully. Another theory is that maybe Kou was in love with Nazuna earlier on but since he didn’t know it or couldn’t recognize it, his vampirism didn’t complete. And in both these cases him missing the one year mark just solidified this hybrid state.
