the calm before the storm... ho boy you are so right... with all those dramas around Natlan that make me feel sick, this character is like a dropplet of water in a scorching desert (no Neuvillette pun intended) and the last adition in the character roster of fontaine (for now)... anyway... why some people cannot just enjoy a game without wanting to say something on the social media ? but it's the world we live in after all...

I will probably pull for her, cause she seems cool and apparently she's a dendro character that specializes in burn reactions and buffs those considerably. Which is something that should work really well with some of my favorite teams. I was looking for a character like her. Plus, I love girls with glasses and her design is another strong factor to get me interested. I find it somewhat ironic though, that a character that specializes in burn reactions talks so much about the importance of water instead of fire in their trailer. Don't get me wrong, I love this trailer, but it is kinda unexpected with its direction.

If she's a perfumer then it makes a lot of sense why she'd talk about water. They're leaning more towards character and her profession than gameplay mechanics in this. However, heat is involved with the perfume making process so they COULD have incorporated that in her dialogue as well which would have made plenty of sense for both character and hints at gameplay style.

@@TheRoschi I suddenly thought about perfume-making and other perfumers we've met in the game and now I want Emilie and Ying'er to meet in some future cross-nation game event.

Emilie was actually teased all the way back in 4.0 and had multiple mentions almost every patch so i was very confused she is so late in the release order

The trailer is gorgeous, the music is beautiful, I like her voice acting a lot, love the vibes and the poetic nature. I'm still a bit conflicted if I want to get her in this patch, it's just such a tough spot she's in, I want her mostly because I've heard she's a burning focused character and I can think of a lot of combinations she can be in even outside of her niche. As a Dehya main I naturally want to have even more variety of teams to use her in so she's definitely on my 'plan to pull' list since I think they'll have synergy together I'll make the decision once I get to actually test her out(I've heard she becomes available to play tomorrow?) and I want to see what the first natlan characters are going to be like in the 5.0 livestream before fully committing I guess

It is weird that they put this out now instead of the teaser. There's some speculation that the demo always drops the day before a character becomes playable, and she technically becomes playable tomorrow with the new imaginarium theater? Seems weird. Emilie is definitely being sent out there to fail when it comes to her banner. She's kind of out of nowhere, and she's being dropped 3 weeks before the new region. I just spent all my primos getting Nilou so I'll be skipping this banner, but I am always excited for a new story quest. Hopefully hers is good, most of the Fontaine story quests have been amazing so I have high hopes. Anyway, great reaction as always!

This is pretty much what I was thinking. I find it a bit weird that they throw out these character banners, knowing that they'll just end up failing in comparison to what came before it and what may come after. I think time, energy, and resources could be used in other ways to improve the game. It is what it is, I guess. However, like you, I imagine her story quest will be enjoyable.

@@TheRoschi sometimes they surprise us, kazuha was dropped right before inazuma and people who skipped him regretted it because he turned out to be very strong he also got a lot of story focus one year later

Emilie will for sure be the rerun banner winner, her kit is strong and geared towards the future synergies, and even now she will be meta.

I'm not super interested in Emilie. Even if I weren't more interested in learning more about some of the Natlan characters we've seen I don't think I'd be pulling for her. I think you're right that she's kind of in a bad position for getting a lot of people to pull for her (I mean, Hoyo will still be printing money of course but...) since she _is_ coming out right before a new region. I'm surprise they didn't put her sooner and just make this patch a full rerun patch.

I'm no marketing genius but yeah it definitely seems like they intentionally screwed her banners up and I just don't understand why. My biggest guess is because the initial reaction to her was mixed/negative(mostly because of her superior concept designs). Her being on the second banner of the update just seems so strange, I also could guess it was because they didn't want to take away the hype from the summer event in the first phase, but with full Natlan hype just around the corner with the livestream... Yeah everything is just strange about her. They couldn't really put her in the last update, last patch already had 3 new characters which is more than usual. but they definitely could've fit her in Chiori's update or something to spice it up a little more and just have this one be a full event one like usual, well at least she's gonna be out now finally. I'm interested in getting her because I like characters that enable a niche, but my enthusiasm isn't as high as let's say Nilou or Sigewinne from the previous banners.

@@dzintars8034 Unlikely. According to leaks even before we knew her appeaance she was mostly speculated to be a very late Fontaine character. Not to mention Canadian Aether or should i say Kazuha was in a similar spot and also second banner after Klee banner in 1.6. Her kit seems also to be good. As you guessed they probably want to spread the summer event and her story quest apart. So not that strange and not the first time. I do agree though, the Chiori patch was pretty much the weakest patch and Emily would have fit there much better especially as she's focused on burning with Arlecchino around the corner and Chiori well being Geo... And obviously if she were part of the 4.3 event like Chiori instead of the just off-screen appearance, but i guess they werent happy with her earlier designs for that. Though im still wondering what happened in Sumeru as the banners there were just weird (last versions no new 5 stars, whole 2 Standard characters even if we count Dehya as a failed limited character that was just thrown as standard instead of fixing her). So i find Emily less strange compared to that.

​@@reiresonance4643 Kazuha I can sort of understand since he was there to hype up Inazuma, as the first character from Inazuma so the hype was always going to be there because everyone was excited for it at the time and it felt appropriate, people just didn't pull for him at first because he was so underestimated. Would've been cool to see them do this sort of thing again, but as far as I'm aware, Emilie has no connection to Natlan.. Sumeru was more front loaded, they released pretty much everything they wanted in the first 3 or 4 patches and then just released the expanded areas, lot of the hyped up characters from the archon quest and mostly focused on events. Fontaine seems a lot more balanced in terms of releases they actually saved the hyped fatui patch after the lantern rite and had the interlude right after with 3 great and anticipated characters right before the always anticipated summer event, The only blemish is the slightly underwhelming Chiori patch in the middle that could've used more pazazz(although it had one of the most cracked 2nd phase rerun banners ever and also the chronicled wish banner, maybe another new 4 star would've been nice) Each update has had some cool things in them that nearly anyone can enjoy. This last Emilie stuff just feels a bit awkward although I'm sure she's gonna be great, they could've released a character that teases Natlan a bit more, with Sumeru we at least had the brief first appearance of Charlotte who talked more in detail about it right before the summer patch, though I understand that there are lore reasons Natlan is more secluded, but so was Inazuma and Kazuha escaped across sea...

Honestly I thought Sigewinne was going to be that character for this region. Emilie took me by surprise. I know others had been aware of her for awhile but for me as someone who isn't caught up, she sort of just came out of nowhere.

I'm sad because I actually do want Emilie, but I'm skipping her for Natlan characters. She's beautiful and her gameplay looks fun, but I want characters from a new region more. I just need 30 more fates before I get my guaranteed 50/50 and I'm not wasting them before Natlan drops.

I am pulling for her and her weapon. Like you said. Most of everyone is skipping her for Natlan characters. She will become the new Albedo mains which are rare players. To me that makes me feels special in a way lol

She’s an easy skip for me and probably most players because 1. She’s running with one of the most popular characters in Yelan and 2. Her banner is just before the new area comes out, in this case, Natlan. As for her character and how she fits into the story of Fontaine, she’s like characters from other areas like Mika, Yao Yao, and Heizou, part of a certain nation but not in the main story of said nation. Fun fact about what you said about what Neuvillette said about water in his demo, one of his random lines talks about the water from all the previous areas

She actually has no story presence. All we know of her is basically she helped off-screen in the 4.3 Chevreuse event and just mentions by other fontaine characters. So yeah, she truly is the fallgirl before Natlan. Skipping her, simply as i got Clorinde and Sigewinne last patch and want both Mualani and Kinich next patch. That said, as much as i dont like her so far. I do like this trailer. Are you going to do the summer event? At least the first two parts are safe. And theoretically you could also do the beginning of the 3rd part story as it opens up the final part of the tempoary map. Its a great event. Kirara quest is also completely safe. The final two storyquests there require at least finished Dragonspine and ofc Wanderer, but i dont think its too spoilery on stuff you already know about Wanderer. Still you might want to play safe with those 2 despite how interesting they are for Natlan and beyond as finishing them is not required to get all the event rewards. And easy to catch up later with those 2 down the line after you experienced the previous events.

@@TheRoschi Nice! Looking forward to your reactions as its an very interesting one. One thing i forgot to mention there is a 2nd worldquest in Sumeru after finishing the event story tied to the event for some curious reason. Its an unvoiced quest (which is even more weird as it involves lots of Sumeru cast including Nahida herself). Just ignore that one, as you arent in Sumeru and it basically has nothing to do with the event despite being kinda part of it. Just do the Kirara one.
