It's pretty much exactly what George Orwell predicted, isn't it? They have a vague word for the Party, the Angkar, by which they could justify anything, and no one knew quite who it was or even who was in charge. They got rid of Cambodian's multiple pronouns for different social gradations. They encouraged everyone not to say what "I" did, but what "we" did. They abounded the language with vague neologisms, and did their best to exterminate loanwords from Chinese and Vietnamese. This is exactly what Ingsoc did with Newspeak. They eliminated vocabulary and forced people to use a highly simplified version of English in which the main words were both vague and easy to redefine by the authorities.

Let's never forget the huge role played by the so-called land of the free, the USA In helping the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot take power in April 1975, and that the US government actually recognised this diabolical regime!

The US was so desperate to weaken the influence of Vietnam that they tolerated a murderous regime, even recognizing it in the UN long after they had lost power in Cambodia

Yes, USA and also China have a lot to answer for this. They both need to be shamed for this, even in 2024.

pretty sure they did they were allowed guns, the military of Cambodia not the Khmer rouge with the regular military that existed before the rouge, they had guns too but they were stripped of them(and their uniforms) and they were forced to become rice field workers and to denounce their modern beliefs for the sake of Communism and for the sake of a what do the leaders of the Khmer rouge Pol pot in his generals believed was the step to "unifying Cambodia" the new government of communist Cambodia.

America bombed Cambodia in fear of communism. Nixon was a moron, this gave way to the president of Cambodia (at that time) getting over thrown and the Khmer Rouge coming in. By the way. The amount of bombs the Us dropped was 5 to 7 times more destructive then the nuclear bombs in Japan in WW2

The thing about Cambodia was how fast it happened, there would be no amount of prepping that could have protected or sustained the people. Read the book, First They Killed My Father. Danya

Most of the people killed during the Khmer Rouge were children of Pheasant and most of those survived were descendent of the old administrators. People should know that the language of administration before the French Indochina were implemented from Hue, Vietnam. When the French tried to wrest power from these people, it lead to 10 years of rebellion and the death of Pol Pot's grandfather in 1886 in Kampong Thom Province. 16 years of Sihanouk independent tried to revile Cambodia education but 16 years was not enough for him to get educated Khmer to help him running Cambodia.

Hi, May I share the most important news you will ever hear in your life? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?

They wanted to use them as balance against Soviet and Vietnamese communists. So for these strategic reasons they did in fact diplomatically support the DK. When the Khmer Rouge government went to exile during their war with Vietnam, the US decided to uphold their UN membership.
