At Grinnell, there is an endless stamina that lives among us,
a tenacious optimism, a never-say-never drive
that believes in the ideal of doing for the greater good,
a hopefulness that shines greater visibility on societal issues,
that seeks greater methods to solve racial inequality,
that sees greater potential in every single human
that hopes for greater love for one another.
Some believe good is good enough. Not here.
Not in the heart of where determination meets persistence.
See, we know something about this.
We know the greatness that lies within each of us.
We know the grit, the boundless energy
and resolve to lead a life in pursuit of the greater good.
Every day, we are thinking, working,
solving -from finding greater solutions to affordable housing
and seeking greater methods for tomorrow’s teachers.
From pushing for greater conversations
to developing greater global citizens and leaders.
Founded in 1846, this purpose has never relented,
never settled, never given up.
Some may see a fool’s lark,
an unrealistic ideal; but for the true and courageous,
we Grinnellians, who believe impossible is nothing,
we will forever remain...
in pursuit of greater.
