As a Turkish Wows player I would like to see Muavenet. Although its a low tier ship it could be refreshing. And the ship itself has a unique history, sharing the same name with 3 other ships in Turkish navy (1 before, 2 later) which also have very interesting backstories.

They don't play particularly differently - it just changes the guns. First is standard Kagero guns, so it plays like a kagero with stock torps. Second are Akizuki guns, which give the most variety as you can choose between straight kagero torp build; a mixed build like US / German DDs; or straight gunboat like a weaker more torp-focussed Aki. Third are some funky US guns (Midway secondaries) - there's too few barrels for them to be good, so can pretty much be ignored - their AA is better than hull 1 guns; but still inferior to hull 2's.

​@@Joshua-fi4ji There's a few options that might make sense - give that hull DFAA consumable and better AA stats to reflect the dual purpose guns (should be possible; Richelieu's two hulls have different consumables available on each IIRC). Not super useful, but at least distinctive. Or just flat out improving the C-hull's guns in general so that the low barrel count doesn't make them somewhat redundant - maybe make them into low damage super-fire-starters to contrast them with B-hull's potential for IFHE spec. Or even just giving it the alternate Kagero torps to make it a different flavour of torpedo-boat.

Harekaze is a beast that's easily underestimated. It can easily play well against T10s and you outspot pretty much everything barring Asashios and Kageros.

Because WGing isn't super-clear about presenting the player with vital info, the vast majority of players wouldn't have a clue that it has insane battleship-quality AP shells. Without that knowledge, and with most of the playerbase not understanding the fundamentals of positioning in order to make use of that AP, people will struggle with its poor HE and have bad games and thus avoid it.

​@@Ace42x You're not even close to correct. On NA, the Tallinn has 748 200 games while the Petropavlovsk has 1 208 339 games. This means people play Tallinn a decent amount (in the top 15), but they want the Petropavlovsk so they don't go back down (hence far more games on the tier X). It's not even remotely related to knowledge.

@@dzello You might be right; but if you are, it's not because the evidence you've provided here demonstrates it, I'm afraid. Might equally say "Tallinn has a load of games played on it because people are dumb, misplay it, and thus have to spend more matches trying to grind through it than other Tier 8s." Which would be supported by it being in the bottom 1/3rd of T8 cruisers ranked by winrate - and bottom 4 of the tech-tree T8s currently in game (for EU, I think) ranked by WR. I'd expect more people play Tallinn just because of how desirable Petro has historically been as a T10 tech tree ship.

@@Ace42x Are you illiterate? The guy said Tallin is great, but he never sees anyone playing it for some reason. First, I explained that Tallinn is actually played a lot (as Tallin numbers show). Second, I showed people play Tallin to get Petropavlovsk (as Petro numbers show). I'm objectively right, your argument about the hidden strengths of Tallin is irrelevant. The reason Tallinn isn't played more isn't that its strengths are hidden, it's that it's a tier 8. And people just want the mighty tier 10, not the stepping stone Tallinn is no matter how strong.

If you filter only tech-tree ships it's just below middle of the pack in terms of battles played. That is not the same as showing that it is "actually played a lot"; and is very different to saying it is played a lot in matches where the OP might actually see it. If you can't understand the difference between these, feel free to go get an adult to help explain it to you. Secondly, saying "people play Tallinn to get to Petro" in no way discredits the idea that they suck at Tallinn and that's why they don't go back; or any other explanation for the statistics. I provided you with another explanation that matches the statistics you provided precisely. So no, the reason that Tallinn isn't played as much as other ships isn't "because it's a T8" - because we can easily compare the number of battles played in it to all the other Tier 8s and see it's position relative to them - even including premium ships that aren't as easy to get. I will not accept lectures about literacy from someone too innumerate to understand they're comparing apples to oranges; let alone who's trying to use long-term NA statistics to disprove the OP's subjective experience for some perverse reason.

I'd love to see you play the Mahan! People sleep on it because of its poor concealment, but it has more DPM than a Fletcher! IMHO the Haida is just plain OP at T7. It has the 3rd highest DPM at T7 and the best concealment. Mahan and Huron are the only ships that out-DPM it, but they both have far worse concealment to make them balanced.

Haida also has better hydro than the english ships 3.5 instead of 3km for ships but same duration. Haida also has 6th highest HP pool. Haida also has better smoke firing than everyone else. Huron does not even have a smoke and mahan is visible from space. Mahan also has 10% less HP... In short: Haida is OP at T7

In my experience, the French destroyer line is quite tough to play nowadays with all the European radar destroyers sailing the waters. Still quite an enjoyable ship to play regardless!

First you figure out your match-ups. If you can safely assassinate the enemy DD thanks to your gunpower, you do so. If it's risky, you need to figure out if / how you outplay them (does your boat have a gimmick that lets you out-trade; do you have enough shell-speed difference that you can long-range out-juke the enemy DD? Will your support hit their DD harder than their support hits you?). Next you figure if there's a safe way of assassinating a herp-a-derp (charge around an island while a battleship's guns are facing the wrong way and dev-strike him with torps before he can react). Only works on people misplaying (or who your team has already victimised); only worth doing if you can get away with doing it safely. French DDs eventually get great AP that - combined with reload booster - can cit the hell out of cruisers as close range. If you can't get some free kills on herp-a-derps, don't suicide by trying to force it - pick one of the targets closest to your team, keep all the enemy team as far away from your ship as possible whilst your target is still *juuust* inside your gun range; spam him down with HE. If you're not going to take a lot of fire (especially if the enemy shells are really slow) just sit still, wait until you're shot at, then accelerate / reverse to dodge the shells, full stop again to rinse and repeat. If the shell travel distance is far enough (and the shells as slow enough) then it doesn't matter what the enemy does, you always have time to get out from under the shells after they've been released. If there's continual fire coming at you (or it's from ships with really fast shells that aren't in the air very long) then speedboost, dodge, and juke - they still generally won't have opportunity to hit you much. If the enemy DCP, then you use reload-booster to quickly reset multiple perma-fires back on them. All the open water gunboats play this way, pretty much. Subs are a pain - free dinner if they're bad; load of shotgun homing torps to your face that you don't have time to dodge if they're good. Help your team deal with them as much as you can without doing anything dumb and without giving up without a fight.

Rule of thumb is "if they outspot you, you outgun them" - it can get a bit more complicated (Haragumo, Khaba and Delny have armour plates, and the latter two have heals; smoke, radar, hydro can all mess with vision, etc), but that's the general principle; you use your line's gimmicks to give you an advantage, but need to master the basics first. One thing you can do on domination maps is push up to a control point, but stop short enough that your concealment radius is short of the control point's far perimeter. When the enemy DD pushes into the control point, you'll see it start capping, but you'll still be undetected because they won't've pushed far enough to enter your detection radius. This will tell you pretty much exactly where the enemy DD is, and give you clues as to what DD it is (you can guess their detection range vs yours, you can maybe outspot them, the other DDs might've been spotted elsewhere, you can see how long it took them to reach the CP compared to you and thus work out their relative speed to you, etc, etc). With that information you can figure out if it's a crappy torpedo boat you just head straight towards and kill - they can't outrun you to keep you perma-spotted; and you've got to be playing like a putz to get killed by enemy torps because you're fast enough to get out of their path altogether, and narrow enough to slip between their spread. As long as you're even vaguely angled and you're not just sitting still full broadside while RPFd or spotted, the enemy's not going to fluke torpedo hits on you. If the match-up is too close to call, or straight up in the enemy's favour, then you need to get into a position where you're ready to pounce if the enemy makes a mistake (gets blinded by their own smoke / gets radar'd / wastes cooldowns / eats enough damage from your teammates that you can just win the trade anyway, etc); you can always play it safe and farm HE / Fire damage at extreme range whilst waiting for opportunities to present themselves. Using islands is circumstantially an option, although that does stop you from providing vision for your team, stop you from threatening the enemy with torps, stop you from speed-tanking and thus wasting the enemy's time and attention, etc, etc - and DDs with good shell speed (flat arcs) aren't as good at shooting over islands than others are.

Graf Spee is great. The guns aren't super consistent vs DDs, but its great hydro really stops it from getting bullied by them. Against cruisers and some battleships, those guns wreck. Ship really rewards good positioning, and can certainly play like a mini-battleship.

A friend and I occasionally play Haida and Huron together for a pretty lethal combo. They can handle themselves in a full uptier and are oppressive when top tier. The only real thing they lack is torpedoes, and even then the lack of number of torps isn't that big of a deal.

Elbing is as good as always. Doesn't really play like a DD, so meta doesn't hit it as hard. Z52 hasn't been great in a long time. A lot more radar these days and people just don't push into your smoke anymore. It's not awful, but I'd probably be happy calling it the worst T10 DD. Z46 is still good though.

@@Joshua-fi4ji People tend to forget the Z-52's excellent AP DPM. The entire line is a bit neglected because people don't appreciate how to play them as a true torp-gun hybrid; and because excellent AP DPM is very circumstantial vs enemy DDs when outplaying the enemy DDs is what wins games. The "meh" German smokes (did they get buffed in the end? I remember there was some talk of it) don't really matter if you're alternating bursts of gun farming with repositioning to torp and find the next broadside to farm down. Hydro-trapping can be circumstantially useful, but it's often more handy as a way to resume your smoke-farming AP consumption in circumstances where outplaying the enemy DD isn't an option and thus you're under torpedo threat (ditto for the load of torpedo-cruisers now in the game, and torpedo BBs to a lesser degree).

It's pretty solid as a DD-killer. Radar+smoke+ short fuse improved pen angle AP just mugs enemy DDs off so hard. Could imagine the number of radar DDs currently in the game (Black being back; the Gdansk line, etc) could circumstantially ruin your day in a way that wasn't the case not so long ago - but Tiger's still got the claws to gift team an early victory solely by assassinating DDs at the start. Last game I played in it, got a high calibre IIRC, video's on my channel.

Most teammates have no idea when to push and when to kite.
