The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE)

The Canadian National Exhibition, also known as The Exhibition or The Ex, is an annual event that takes place at Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, during the 18 days leading up to and including Canadian Labour Day, the first Monday in September.

I remember as a kid in the early 60's at the Ex where the shooting gallery and games men wore a hat and a striped shirt with a bow tie. And people talked with kind of a funny mid-Atlantic accent back then. Almost a New Yorkish and English-ish mix.

It's unfortunate that you didn't show the indoor stuff. There were stores that sold a lot of cool stuff from all over the world and others that sold the latest fashions and gadgets, etc. There were also some great shows especially the dog show - totally amazing! It drew long lineups but was definitely worth the wait.
