Stone is great. The Star pub is a very old and traditional canalside pub with the interesting attribute of having more different levels inside than any other pub...so beware the steps! You were nicely pink cheeked in this video Maggie, it must have been cold! :) The cratch board of the Opera House and the Kilns was lovely! Not sure Ryan deserved that extra tablet! :)

Hi Ryan and Maggie. Another great video. I made the beef stew this week and it was absolutely delicious. I added suet dumplings. What you may not know about the recipe is that it also works when cooked and eaten in a house!!!

Haha, wow, really? In a house? 😂😉 Glad it turned out nice and you enjoyed it, dumplings do make a stew much more awesome!

Love that you've been to Stone on the cut, if you guys read books, read 'Narrow Dog to Carcasson' by Terry Darlington. Great book (and I'm no reader!) and Stone is where it begins. It's a true story too. 😊

Quality wanderings 😎 Whilst in Stone you should pop in to The Royal Exchange (dog friendly) and say hello to Michelle, and Joule's is pronounced like 'jowls' rather than 'jewels', and it is now brewed in Market Drayton after someone bought the rights to the name. 😁

The dog is so cute. I have a dog just like the brown one you met at the market, I also have a black one and a ginger one! I made the stew for May parents and the6 had it for lunch today. My father said it’s as good as his ham hock broth, so praise indeed. I’m not keen on tablet it’s too sugary for me. Thanks for another great video.

Pleased to hear your parents enjoyed the stew! We enjoyed the tablet, it was a nice texture, but yes, very sugary! We could only eat it a bit at a time

It is a delightful town as you say. Been there a few times over the years. They did have a lovely Italian restaurant there near the lock, La Bella Napoli, shame about it is I believe it's gone. Stone's loss I'm afraid. Never mind, we have Narrowboat Chef stepping in for a while at least.

Hi. I decided to try making bread ( after your last video) and after trying all the stores I had no luck finding "strong flour" here in Windsor, ON Canada. No luck with the flavoured flour or ones with seeds like in your video. I did manage to order Bobs red mill flour from Amazon.ca . I enjoy your videos. Regards Norm
@NarrowboatChef
@NarrowboatChef 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Norm, if you can’t find strong bread flour you can use just normal plain flour - we did it the other day with plain flour and the loaf still turned out fine, it makes very little difference 😊 For the seeded and flavoured flours, you might be able to find packets of sesame seeds, linseeds, poppy seeds, etc and mix a small amount into the dough. Let us know how you go when you make it!

I have seen all episodes, very nice and uncomplicated, In the future, I intend to live on a narrow-boat so all information is welcome. have experience with rent narrow-boat. I know that a cook swears by cooking on gas, ever thought about the use of a diesel cooker? (for example, Wallas) I do not like the littering of gas cylinders, more efficient with fuel, insurance is much cheaper and it saves space. Greeting Dub - from the Netherlands The weather is just as wet here :-)
@NarrowboatChef
@NarrowboatChef 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Dub, glad you’re finding the videos useful. We hadn’t thought about a diesel cooker but might look into it as we plan to update the kitchen at some point. Thanks 😊

Hi Dub :) (And M&R) We have a narrowboat without gas, and rely on electric cooking which is OK as we have a huge generator connected to the engine, but I have considered a diesel hob and oven. Better than gas I think :)
