He got 15 years (the life sentince), last year they had a new trial giving him a the choice if he wanted to stay in prison or not. So apparently he had said that he still longed for human meat and that for the safety of the "people" he would like to stay in prison. So yeah...he's still in there. * So i read into it again. He did state that he still longed for human meat and that was a part of why he‘s still in prison. Another was that he doesn‘t show remorse. He doesn‘t see what he did wrong since the whole thing was consensual (🤷🏽♀️). A couple of newspapers stated that his psych evaluation (in german we say Sozialprognose...not sure if this is the same thing) came out bad and the court didn‘t see him fit to be free..according to the newspapers he will probably never be free again.

This is why Dahmer claimed to have eaten his victims as well. To keep a piece of them with him for forever. I think that obsession with an act (ANY act) is a very dangerous part of the human mind. After obsessing over something for a long period of time, it builds to the point of no control. People love to scream "mental illness" but not all that do wrong have a true mental diagnosis; sometimes, simple obsession can (and often does) cause a person to act completely irrationally. I think this obsession and wanting to eat these people is a life obsession for this man and it probably does go back to his childhood and things he went through and the importance of consent is one of the most striking aspects of the incident. He wanted them to want to be with him also. How sad
@Ih8danhumphrey5 жыл бұрын
jessica king honestly I don’t actually know what it feels like to crave human flesh, but I think you’re right that the obsession isn’t how you feel or what you want necessarily, but just an act. Whether it’s me taking a hit for satisfaction, or this guy. Crazy

One of the arguments they used to give him a longer sentence was that Brandes was actually passed out when his throat was slit. So, even though he came there wanting to be killed and eaten he didn't fully give his consent right before he was killed... As a side note, I always found Armin's story really sad. Yeah what he did was sick and disgusting but he literally wasn't a threat since the man was willing to do it and weirdly enough he was big on consent. So maybe he shouldn't have gotten life in prison? But maybe it was also good to get some time in prison since now he's a vegetarian lmao
@itzmeonlyme10215 жыл бұрын
@@saori5808 I think he still should go to prison because he has a taste for human flesh. There is still a risk that he may lack a volunteer and commit murder. It's not a risk worth taking.

Honestly though, I don't think he should've been charged at all. He found a fully consenting person, they had a full agreement on what will be done, he respected his wishes, he informed him of everything, including giving him pills etc. I mean, we keep preaching consent, but then when someone gives consent to something we don't like it's like "no, no, that doesn't count". He even had someone drive up to his house previously and when the guy changed his mind he let him go. Compared to half of these other cases this dude was actually really respectful and seemed way more sane than the majority of them, some of which end up getting little to no jail time even when it's painfully obvious they did commit a crime.
@alexevans20112 жыл бұрын
I agree plus like okay so they did something people don’t like or agree with fine. But why is it that once the guy goes about it while putting a large importance on consent they have a bigger issue with it than someone who goes and kills a bunch of young girls for no reason in their sleep or smth
@user-mw2is1rj3p Жыл бұрын
No he needed to be charged but just also needed help because he was obviously sick
@venuss20005 жыл бұрын
I'm probably in the minority here but.... I don't think he deserves life in prison. 1) He had a *willing* participant and asked for the adult persons consent. 2) He let the other man go when he changed their mind last minute. 3) how do you uphold a law that doesn't exist? Again, I'm not saying what he did was right, but life in prison seems extreme in this particular situation.

I was told that it’s not so much that it was expressly legal in Germany, but that it wasn’t expressly illegal. I’m not sure if that’s changed now. There was a case in the US (not sure what state) where a guy had to have part of his leg amputated, so he took the amputated leg and foot home, cooked it and had a party. Him and his friends (knowingly) ate it just to know what it was like. I’m not sure if there’s no laws against cannibalism to allow for the ultra rare cases like that (no one died, everyone knowingly and fully consented) or if being able to do that was more of a loophole that this person took advantage of.
