I have both the FS-200 i bought new and a FS-1OO i bought used, the big differences in these two, is the FS-100 has stereo mics, and a remote, other then that they have pretty close specs.

+RICK J The FS200 DOES have stereo microphones. They just didn't make it look like it. It also has a headphone output. But no more remote control.

+DrCassette The front of the camera design fooled me..I only bought the FS-100 for the remote. makes me wonder why they would make these two cameras so close to each other..

+RICK J The FS100 was their 2008 model, the FS200 was their 2009 model. The FS300 came out in 2010 and wasn't that good anymore. The FS100 should have better picture in good light as it has a higher resolution image sensor. The FS200 should be slightly better in low light as it has a lower resolution sensor of the same size. The bigger the pixels, the better the sensitivity. My Canon FS100 unfortunately failed for some mysterious reason. One day I tried using it, but it wouldn't turn on anymore.

Jonas I am so looking forward to your new videos on YT with the Canon FS100. I use a Panasonic SDR-S7 Video camera which I took to Everest and use all the time. It is so small it goes in my pocket. The sound quality is really good. Warm regards Richard

As compared to the Kodak Zi8: That also has a Microphone input and I believe Kodak will still include that feature in their next model. Time will tell if I'm right about that. Another thing I know about the Zi8 is that they use a cell phone battery and they look like cell phones. Zi8's have similar features to the Canon except it doesn't have optical zoom. There are other digital cameras like that such as the Vado HD, Flip Ultra HD and RCA Small wonder. I don't think they have mic inputs.

i have a canon fs 200 its a realy nice camcorder its very simuler to your fs 100 exept some design details and that it dosent have a remote its basicly the same.

Just found an old one in my wife's wardrobe. It's absolutely awful today. Cannot believe how bad the resolution is in today's world. Most smartphones spank this old grandad of a camcorder. Poor little thing 😂

Can you even pause a video while recording?

You mean pause the camcorder in such a way that it does not create a new file when un-pausing? No, unfortunately the camcorder does not have such a function.
