I think cramp and stiff leg muscles is basically due to poor oxygen supply. Not necessarily poor circulation but often simply due to sitting or lying in a position that constrains the arteries. I find regularly shifting position releases pressure on the arteries and cramp disappears quickly. The other trigger maybe static electricity built up from the body rubbing against modern man made textiles. It's the static that makes our hair stand on end when we get out of bed in the morning. As an experiment, I've gone back to frying food in lard rather than vegetable oils. And amazingly I'm losing body fat. It's like my body is saying that if I give it animal fat then it won't bother storing it anymore. Carbs and sugar seem to be fat building foods.

Did hear about folks changing to natural oil rather than the factory produced stuff. Carbs and sugar are my downfall. Atb

Thought that muscle roller was a double-donger. Ha ha! Get a dehydrator and dehydrate your own meals. I also gave up measuring everything out into daily rations. Just bunged it all in two big bags so that I could eat as much as I wanted depending on how many calories were getting burned. One big bag of homemade dehydrated spag bol, and one of chilli con carne. I sometimes think you can over-prep for such trips. Keep it simple. Great video.

Hi ray.where did you get your head net from as I am going to be a sector hike of the the cwt this year hopefully.
@RS.Outdoors3 жыл бұрын
You cant get them as they are not made any more. It was for forestry workers and a few supply shops used to sell them. However have heard of folks making there own using safety glasses you can remove the lenses. Just buy a midge hood, take lenses out of the glasses and put frames inside the hood. Pop lenses in and then trim around the net.

All cyclists be advised. 20 yrs ago, myself and 2 others traveled the A9, went west, stripped the gear off our bikes, and prepared ourselves for a nice run to Cape Wrath. With our cameras. We were denied by a clown called morrison (the small ferry ),his excuse was he had no room for bikes. Except, that day he had to take a sh*t (his words ),and he had no time for people on bikes. We were willing to pay/wait while he performed the aforementioned ablutions and allow us to complete an otherwise excellent trip around our own country, but he got very loud, and chased us away. We completed our journey down the west coast and home. Yo, morrison manny, if you are still alive. I hope your next sh*t is a hedgehog.

Nice one Ray, not too bad a day to kick off the trail. I've got a similar roller to that and think I'll take mine too to loosen off my ITBs as I can get tightness there. Apparently it's normal to have sore calves, so my old osteopath told me. I've not tried the bigger packs, but you'll need the calories. 👍🏻

Visited Cape Wrath with my old man back in 1988. Took the 'ferry' over the Kyle of Durness, then an old Sherpa minivan up to the lighthouse. I remember it being the roughest 'road' I think I've ever been on. No facilities at the Cape back then. I seem to remember there was a derelict army barracks but can't seem to find any information about it now. Would love to go back, maybe I'll take my kids there someday.....

@mediasubway4 жыл бұрын
Paths? On the Cape Wrath Trail? You might get a visible path for about a third of the trip. The rest is a matter of bushwhacking or blazing a trail. Yep, there's a legitimate reason why it's classed as the toughest hike in Britain. It's not to be underestimated.
@Kg51Edelweiss4 жыл бұрын
media underground what’s your thought on doing it from cape wrath to fort William
@mediasubway4 жыл бұрын
@@Kg51Edelweiss Don't think it's a good idea John. Firstly because that last leg of the journey is supposed to be pretty tough and setting off with a heavy pack - with all your food and stuff - is gonna make it a lot tougher. Finishing up at a remote lighthouse after a hard last leg seems much more rewarding to me. Secondly, I could think of no bigger anti-climax to a trip than finishing up in the depressing Fort Bill. It's anticlimactic enough rolling into there after hiking the West Highland Way. Now doing the WHW in reverse might be a good option.
@Kg51Edelweiss4 жыл бұрын
media underground yes I would agree what a ghastly place to finish such an epic walk

As mentioned there is no marked trail as such. Lots of cross country and bog hoping. The Trail maps are a guide to the routes to take and you need to have good navigation skills in all conditions for some sections. Atb
