NO! Must keep the 2.8i engine don’t go electric. The sound is so distinctive and gorgeous. Classic owners must keep together to make sure the decent fuel remains available.

No, don't do a 280, but any other Capri is OK. I remember seeing about 20 of these specials stored in a Ford Dagenham car park in 1986.. I was a young apprentice and the cars were near the Paint, Trim and Assembly building after being unloaded from a boat at the nearby Jetty.

Such a beautiful design. Sadly we only had these Capri models from 1976 to 1978 in North America. Ours had the 2.8 v6 but with only about 110 horsepower.

Definitely a No from me. I’m fortunate enough to own a Brooklands. And a huge part of its appeal is that Beautiful engine sound.

I have had capris every day since the summer of 1986. I bought the red 2.8i in August 1991. Just had a major overhaul with a shed load of new parts including track control arms, steering gaiters, tie rod ends, hand brake cable, brake discs, M16 calipers, pads, a custom 1 piece propshaft, front indicators and hand crafted metal brake lines copying the original. Hope to be on the road in summer when road tax exempt (40 years old). Also have a '73 MK1 3 litre thats now an ETCC ford "works" touring car replica in blue and white livery with a box arch body kit with air intakes and 16 inch 3 piece split rims.

Sounds great Kenneth do you have any pictures you can send us for our community page and Instagram? As we like to feature your car?
@kennethfinnegan2937 Жыл бұрын
@@Classiccarstories not sure how to send photos to the community page. I don't do Instagram or Facebook. I don't even do shows anymore. I mean 99.99% of people love it and want to know about it and take pictures etc but always get at least one idiot "ooh I don't like the colour.. oh that's not original..". Probably never even had one, can't do something like that. I don't want to be giving there whereabouts as security is paramount. Wouldn't be first time someone tried to follow me home in them.

@@kennethfinnegan2937 no problem Keith I understand, you can’t post to our community page only I can do that , I meant send me the pictures via our email address but no problem if you’d rather not 😊

In thinking about whether to go electric a lot depends on future legislation and the ready availability of petrol / diesel. In the meantime I like my Stag's burble, but not the price per litre!

The lsd stated was available on special and the tyres where smaller than normal 195 not 205

Electric capri 280 who ever does it needs there head seriously testing. It's purely a beautiful sound and drive as it a pure legend, its only regret is that ford did not make it supercharged like it was planned to be the capri 500 it would have been awesome.

Are you converting the Brooklands? I have a 1984 2.0s that I'd love to convert when I have the cash for it.

@@Classiccarstories so there's a chance I could still be the first! What sort of set up do you you'd try and do if you were going to convert a Capri? Do you think you'd be able to improve the weight distribution?
@tc75392 жыл бұрын
I owned a 1984 Capri 2.8 Injection Special a long time ago and really liked it. I personally prefer the wheels and the colours on the earlier 2.8 Injection models to the Brooklands. I would hesitate to convert a V6 car to electric because the engine is so characterful and has a lovely offbeat sound. But converting a four cylinder Capri to electric would be OK with me.

Nothing really special about it, all 2.8 models from 85 got LSD, Ricardo's was standard even on the early models. Only difference was 15 inch wheels and full leather
