I actually liked walker as the captain, to me it was more realistic since everything he did wrong you can explain. use guns? man was armed forces, he's been trained to use firearms from day one kill someone? he just saw his best friend die, and in a pretty brutal way. if that happened to my best friend and I could kill the murderer, I certainly would (and yes I know it wasn't him, but something like that would make the red mist drop and when everyone's wearing a mask...). try to keep the shield? his friend died following that shield, it's one of the last real pieces of his legacy, of course he wanted to keep it.
