Quiere lavarte? You want to wash? I'm surprised I understood a few things. I haven't studied Spanish for well over a decade. Anyway, I've never seen a western film noir. I'm looking forward to this.

An excellent Contemporary Western, but too little of a role for Victor Jory, a Western staple. Thanks for the find.

Victor Jory was not a prima donna. Later in the fifties he did episodes of the radio mystery program "Suspense".

"I thought it only nicked him." Even though he was trying to kill him.He is a hypocrite who drives away his fiancé while riding his high horse. A thoroughly dislikeable person.

It’s a WESTERN? There driving around in 1930’s automobiles! .

So, in the 1930's the " old west" still existed. Arizona became a state in 1912. So that explains 1930's cars.

"the West" isn't so much a time, but rather, a place...The West still exists today, but you have to go west to find it.

Novelist/Screenwriter Niven Busch was married to Teresa Wright. He also wrote the screenplay for Pursued in which Wright starred with Robert Mitchum. He wrote the novel on which the movie, Duel in the Sun was based.

I thought the Federales at the rancho had Springfield M1903s , but it was dark. At the Padre's hut they had Winchesters. I have no idea what real Mexican police would have carried in the period,. C. 1935? I bet the RKO studios had a butt load of Winchester blanks.

@@HootOwl513 yep, pre ww2 the studio would of had lots of winchester's but the real mexican police back then would of had Mauser 98"s circa 1935.

@@allenschmitz9644 In the scene where Duncan Renaldo sandbags the sentry and steals a horse, [1:22:24], the sentry's weapon does look like an M1903 Springfield or M1898 Krag-Jorgensen carbine. While a 98 Mauser would have been historically accurate, this is 1950 Hollywood [on Mexican location and Period-1935]. A pull knob on the rear of the bolt is visable. The Mauser did not have these but the Krag and Springfield did. Also, it looks like a brighter metallic glint in the moonlight of the Krag's magazine side door is visable on the left side of the receiver. Krags were issued to local forces in Haiti, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua in support of local ''Banana Wars'', but not Mexico. So maybe it's a Krag or Springfield playing the ''part'' of a Mauser. I think the continuity break with the Federales later using lever action rifles at the Padre's casita siege scene can be atributed to the possibility that the sequence was shot in Southern California, so Studio guns and blank ammo were more available. Studio armorers had a complete disregard for historical accuracy in this period. Lots of pre-Civil War westerns where the White Men had 6 shooters and Winchesters. The public never noticed.
