The capybara, "carpincho", "ronsoco", or "chigüire" (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) is an animal from cavies family. It's the largest and heaviest living rodent on Earth. It lives in herds, in tropical and temperate climates regions. They're always near to the water, from the west wetlands of Panama and South America, and the north-east of the Andes, to the center of Argentina.
It's closely related to agoutis, chinchillas, coypus and guinea pigs.
