Unlike other "great" F1 designs which were leaps and bounds better than the competition for the seasons they were designed for, this is one of the few/only one which it's dominance was not caused by a major change in regulations. People say the Schumacher dominance era was boring but the races were actually really enjoyable. They were more 'organic' and drivers were having close battles up and down the grid. The Red Bull and Mercedes eras have been genuinely boring because drivers can't race close to each other for more than a couple of laps and even then, they push a button when they want to overtake, and half the time it ends a crash.

"Which Ross Brawn believes to this day was designed to bring an end to their success" Ehm...what do you mean "Ross Brawn believes"? It was confirmed by many, including Bernie Ecclestone himself, that stopping Ferrari winning everything was one of the main objectives of introducing 2005 rules. And now we have Mercedes domination (a much more severe domination and much worse for the sport, by the way, since it's up from 60-70% poles/races for Ferrari to nearly 85% poles/races for Mercedes) and we don't have a rule change to adress that. F1 in 2019 is boring beyond belief since you already know the names of 1-2, the only question is the order.

you don't even need to bring up the % of poles/wins, just look at the average gaps between Mercedes/Pole to the next non-Mercedes car from any 4 year period starting in 2014 and compare it to ANY other team/cars in the modern era. Most dominant cars ever and there's evidence to show that Mercedes never utilised them to their full potential from 2014 to 2016 either due to them being so far ahead, with the laps after the late race safety car in Bahrain in 2014 would arguably be the only time they did so in race trim and despite both their driver fiercely battling they still managed to pull out 24 seconds in 10 laps. Despite that, here we are about to see Mercedes probably win all but 2-3 races (if we're lucky) of the 2019 season and with pretty dull racing to boot if we're honest. The V8 era from 2009-13 brought about the most entertaining and closest seasons F1 has had, even with Vettel comfortably winning in '11 and '13 when the teams showed up each weekend we'd not know for sure who would win, now if a Mercedes leads out of turn 1 it's race over.

The 2005 rules were indeed to bring an end to Ferrari domination, and it was the right call just like in 2009, now the FIA doesn't seem all that interested in putting an end to the V6 hybride embarrassing era for F1. Ferrari wasn't all that dominate, in both 2000 and 2003 McLaren was so close, the same goes for Williams, for one simple reason back then teams could develop their cars not like now when basically they are all stuck, Mercedes got lucky with their engine design the others weren't allowed to develop theirs, and this year the rules essentially eliminated the last weakness of the Mercedes namely tyre temperature.

You can't really complain when Ferrari keeps blocking everything the FIA does to try to even the playing field. The FIA needs to stop budging to Ferrari demands every time they *threaten to leave the sport* and just do what's necessary to bring some type of parity to F1. Money distribution based on *merit* would be a good start.

Technically Alonso didn't end anything in 2005. He got lucky Kimi's McLaren kept failing, Kimi also beat Michael in 2005 in the final standings. But the real question I have is: How did Kimi Raikkonen win in a 2004 McLaren at Spa against the F2004? How overrated was Alonso, that he couldn't win a single race in 2004?

@tubehows4life you do know he beat all of the drivers you mentioned right? And he almost won a championship in the 4th best car if michael shumacher didnt give seb a free championship? In 2005 he won in the 2nd best car, kimi lost because of his preformances and an unnecicairy DNF at the nurburgring cause he didnt stretch his tired and broke the suspention. Fernando isnt perfect but he deserved the 2005,2006,2010,2012 championships. In 2007 he beat rookie hamilton dont act as if lewis stomped him cause he didnt, lewis also got lucky at some points in the season. But thats okay lewis is a good driver thats on the same level as fernando, but saying kimi deserved 2005 is like saying massa deserved 2008 or saying that fernando deserved 2013. You are in fact a troll and you definetly dont know what you are saying. Fernando isnt overrated because if the engineers say he has a bad car and they say he was preforming outstanding every race then enough is said. Hamilton and button are also great drivers so saying that fernando isnt special for beating them is foolish. Lewis is a 5 time wc and jenson is a 1 time wc and fernando beat them.

By that time, it was consensual to say that the car had been designed around the new incoming Bridgestone tyres (and a little headstart...), and that made for all the difference in performance... So in a way, it was a different type of thinking + It takes someone like Schuemacher to take advantage of it.
