I grew up in Kingston, Ontario and went to LCVI high school. Ken Linseman, Tony McKegney and Rob Plumb (who lived just up the street) were all at LCVI also, just a year or two ahead of me. Not that this means anything ... but kind of cool. I delivered newspapers, the Kingston Whig Standard and Rob Plumb's house - his parents house - was on my route.

Ken Linseman is my favorite hockey player of all time. My first NHL game I saw live wasn't until the end of his career but it was a memorable one. Edmonton at NJ and him and Peter Stasny were going at it the whole game. I loved his grit and modeled my own playing style after him.

Looking at his stats, what amazes me is in 87-88 bob probert had 29 goals and 62 points along with 398 pim. That era produced some crazy stat totals when you start looking into them.

Jack Tripper the worst non call in Stanley Cup history ! The Islander guy was offsides easily by 2ft " both teams and the whole building saw it and knew it" EXCEPT for the linesman Leon Stickle who said after the Cup winning game for the Isles " Oh well I guess I blew it." BRUTAL BRUTAL that's the kinda call does not even get missed in a pre-season game - The Philadelphia Flyers of "1980" who went 35 games without a loss was clearly the best team in the league that year AND they were robbed !! " That's one I will never let go off as a Flyers fan We Got Jobbed in game 6 SCF "1980"

Story on goalie pads would be interesting. The size of their pads is insane compared to year's ago. You look at Ken Dryden who was huge, but took up little room in net compared to what goalies look like today.

Everybody loves these type of player on there team. Every fan would kill to a Marchand nowadays or a Kenny back then tho I don’t think Marchand is that dirty anymore.

One of my favorite players when he first joined the Flyers, aside from all the dirtyness which everybody always bring up, he was one of the fastest skaters in the league, nevermind that Clarkie thought he looked like a rat on skates lol... But also a very good playmaker. The real reason why the Flyers traded him was that he was dating the team owner, Ed Snider's 19 year old daughter Lindy, Kenny was 20 at the time, and that he brought her back after the 11PM curfew, sometimes around midnight. Papa Snider told him "I'm her father first, then the team owner..." so he acted as a father and not team owner, caring more about a relationship he wasn't approving then about trading away one of his best players. Linseman denied it was the reason for the trade but that's what happened.

Funny nobody is talking about Dino Ciccarelli a fav of mine (and yes he was cheap). In many fantasy leagues, we had awards for players high in penalties and points. Always loved Linseman on the Oilers both times and was sad with the Boston trade (I followed Western teams back then and with a bedtime less chances to catch his games).

Linesman probably the dirtiest player ever! Had problems in the minors with lawsuits due to his dirty style. With Flyers it seemed like when there was a bench clearing brawl you could pick out Linseman as he would be the only one not to drop his stick. Offensively he had talent but his dirty style cost him he did more stick work on players than anyone I saw. Teams could only put up with him for so long reason he move around a lot.

Boston Bruin’s Hockey Chara could’ve killed Max Pacioretty, Marchand is Marchand, McAvoy just recently got suspended for head hunting. Need I say more?
@mikelynch7271
@mikelynch7271 4 жыл бұрын
CANT THINK OF A NAME ... Chara has played dam near 20 years in the NHL & have never been suspended. Idk how one check constitutes a player as “dirty “. Again you’re judging McAvoy to be dirty due to 1 hit ... as for Marchand, he was definitely a Rat his first few seasons in the NHL & while I would argue that for the most part that’s not a big part of his game anymore his reputation as a “dirty” player isn’t going away . In short you obviously know not of what you speak 🤙🏿
