Between 70-74 Esposito n Orr scored +1000 points together. damn

Phil does the color analysis for the radio broadcast of Lightning games. A lot of people dislike him because he criticizes the team pretty hard when they are playing badly, but that is just Phil. He's going to speak his mind and too bad if you don't like it. I love him. Every game I go to, I always make sure to touch the Esposito statue out front of the arena for luck.

Matt Pizzano I'll never get why some people want/like homer announcers. It's insulting to fans intelligence imo.

Mike -You guys and gals down in Tampa are very luck to have Phil Esposito. He knows the game, has plenty of stories and doesn’t bullshit you when talking about the team and it’s opposites.

I love Phil. Still doing a great job as the lightning radio announcer for over 20 years I think. He loves his team and owner a lot! Without Phil the bolts would have never won the cup!

I remember watching him as a kid, when he played for the bruins and he was a great goal scorer but I didn’t realize how high his numbers actually where!

My first real get-to-know of Phil was when he was GM of Tampa, but then after that watching history videos of things like the Summit Series and the Big Bad Bruins I got to know him more and was impressed. My dad would say all he did was stand in front of the net... I would say seems like a good place to stand...

I grew up in Mass. with a bumper sticker on our car that said "Jesus Saves, and Esposito scores on the rebound." Esposito was the 2nd best player on the Big Bad Bruins, it's strange that you went through this entire video without mentioning Bobby Orr. He was great on his own, but he wouldn't have had the peak that he did without playing with Orr, as well as the other great player on that team.

Was a bigger guy who planted himself in front of the net and couldn’t be moved. Not sure if there’s a comparable type of player in the league now, maybe Ovi when he’s ornery and just sets up in front, but Espo wasn’t a great skater Brilliant in the 72 series of course, the true leader of that team.

Love your videos. You are doing a great job. One suggestion though. It would be a great enhancement if you could throw in a few snapshots or even vid clips here and there during your commentary. Other than that, keep up the good work. Very enjoyable. Thanks from an old goalie.

Phil gets a bad rap, by those who never seen him play much, when they say he was a garbage goalscorer and had great numbers because he played with Bobby Orr. I’ve seen Phil Esposito in enough breakaways to tell you this man was deadly accurate and had above average stickhandling skills. He was also great at tipping in off a defenseman slap shot. As for the second point, anyone would benefit from playing with Bobby Orr, But a lot of Orr’s assist came from Esposito goals. In other words, it was a two way street.

Rangers gave them an offer they couldn't refuse. Brad Park was an 8 time Norris runner and Orr was pretty much finished due to his knees. And they got Jean Ratelle, who was a consistent 90-100 point scorer.

Seems like the bruins like to go to the final in a pattern. Went in 70, skip 71, go again in 72. Went in 88 I believe, missed 89, go again in 90. Went in 2011, missed 2012 and then went again in ‘13...
