My neighbor with dementia, aged less than 80, just died 6 days ago. I used to spend afternoons with her because she was lonely, we would eat ice cream, she never remembered who I was, she also saw me as a little girl idk why, she used to cry everyday specially at night, begging her mother to come pick her up, I would tell her "ur mom is coming soon, she told me" so she could relax a bit, all those moments felt like this song. She was permanently trapped in younger years, asking help from her mom. She was so lonely, her son didnt care about her, which is the reason why I would spend so much time with her. Even when he didnt love her she absolutely did, she would ask me about him, "when is he coming?" or when she would save a little bit of food for him. In 2021 she was able of moving around, walking... But 8 months ago she was bedridden, it was difficult for her to breathe. When the nurse used to clean her she would cry, she would say "i am sorry, i love you". I had a great time with Ceci, watching dramas on the tv, and eating ice cream. I feel guilty because I didn't spend as much time w her during her last week, but I hope she understood I loved her. Edit: Sorry for the venting, I was mourning and this song broke me. Since it's getting some people interested, please be patient with elders, be nice, offer company. We are all going there, offer ur friendship to them, sometimes they are just lonely, please offer people with this illness at least some good hours even if they dont fully comprehend it. Treat them the way you would treat a child. This video helped me understand her condition a lot more, in order for me to do her groceries, get her the medicines, etc, cooking for her... I’m about 17 years old. My parents got divorced a decade ago, and have been non-stop fighting each other since. I don’t remember anything from before then. I remember less than 10 things between then and being 14. I don’t remember anything from then to about before I was 15 and a half. I remember about half of everything thats happened in the last year- I already forgot the entirety of my first semester of this school year. I don’t know where my memories have gone, why no one seems to care when I tell them (Therapists, friends, parents) but when I think back on my life theres just… nothing there. And most of whats there is blurry, or confusing. I don’t know where my life went. Only two people ever cared- my very first therapist and my girlfriend. I asked my girlfriend if she knew how I could have forgotten almost my entire life at just 17 years old. She said she knew but that she wouldn’t tell me because I had told her to not tell me yet. I love her and I trust her enough to know she’s telling the truth… but it still disturbs me. When did I know the truth? How could I forget something like that? I just walk around the world, saying hi to people I don’t know. Hearing people share memories from recent months I’ve already forgotten. How long will I live like this? Why am I like this? Why does no one even care? For fucks sake people I am 17 and I don’t remember anything! It makes school work so hard to do, and it makes relationships hard too. Sometimes I learn I was interested in something that I just… don’t know anything about. Saying things I’ve forgotten. I guess I even forget how I behave or something because I’ll act differently. I didn’t even think of this until now but I don’t even remember what I look like. I’ve had social media accounts I don’t remember. I used to be able to draw… really well. I was a great Minecraft player and played in Bedrock… not Java. And I guess that I used to be really good at Fortnite. The only thing I remember about playing Fortnite was creating Creative Mode Maps and that I made thousands… but I don’t remember the live events, or seasons, or my many friends on that game. So many things have happened in my life. But I’ve forgotten them all. Where did they go? Where did my life go? I just want to remember things like a normal person.

I visited her the day she passed away, mere hours before it. She was humming old songs, from back in the 1970’s, because that’s all she could remember. the nurse told us she wouldn’t be long. I cried, because she was my favorite aunt, every year, on the day she died, I go back to her grave, and tell her she was the best aunt I had, the reason she was my favorite is because she would give me candies when she visited my family on my birthday. And she would always give me advice for things. Like how to make friends, how to bake a cake, how to cook my favorite foods, she was old, she was almost an adult when my dad was born, my uncle told me the names of songs to listen to by her grave. The memories are good for a lifetime, but no matter how hard you try, you can’t remember it when dementia is in your brain.

Happened to me before. My Roblox account got terminated the day after I came back from holidays and the server outage. He was so scared because he didn't see that I said I'm going on holidays.
