S grade crates are very plentiful, relic core is the bottleneck. It may be tempting early game to get S grade, but you will thank yourself later when you're drowing in s gear and need cores.

How do I astral forge and cosmic cast.

When you get legendary equipment cosmic cast will become available. You will need 2000 base tech materials, 50 void cores, and 50 eternal cores to make SS equipment. You can salvage gear for cores and materials or get it from events. When astral forge is available on S grade gear or SS grade gear it will tell you the requirements.
