Deep down in my heart, I will never forget the classic 2000's Cartoon Network shows. I'm 16 now and I've officially given up on modern Cartoon Network at this point. (Oh I'm sorry I meant Teen Titans Go Network)
@marcusmayo6 жыл бұрын
I'm 17 and I given up on them too. I love the 90's and early 00's of cartoon network shows like Dexter's laboratory, Power puff girls( original), Courage the cowardly dog, Johnny bravo, billy and Mandy, kids next door,etc. Back then cartoon network was on top of their game especially with those crossovers like the Grim adventures of knd, and who could forget Cartoon network invaded? Those were the days but it's a new era now so we have to prepared for the best or the worst sadly. But it's all right though at least we can look back and say hey remember when cartoon network were good and look at them now rebooting everything lol though a couple of shows in the 2010's were pretty good like adventure time, regular show, Steven Universe, and the amazing world of gumball. Like those shows but the 90's and 00's era was the best. :)

Cartoon Network forgotten what it once was. A show for everybody. Cartoon Network didn’t have just the same basic art style with the same basic comedies. It's been rough for CN to find good shows, even though they could revive many of the old greats. But at least CN is trying to at least find new shows to add to the roaster while maintaining the top current ones, like them renewing Gumball, and unlike Nickelodeon who seems to only bow to Spongebob like a god, and not give many shows (like Danny phantom) a chance or even good a valid reason as to why some shows get canceled.

Thanks for doing this video - you took the compilation I had put together to the next level with your commentary and oral history, and even going further than that by advancing theories as to what it was about the Starburst Era (which I'm glad is now the official term for this mini-era, since I didn't really know what to call it - "Starburst" based on promo designs seemed to make sense) that made people forget about it - I always felt it was because of how generic it seemed in comparison to other eras, not to mention how it was pretty much a transitional phase, since Checkerboard was still be phased out, while Powerhouse was still being broken in gradually.

Yeah, but at least CN's willing to say they existed and gave many a shot, to then honor the shows in their anniversary . When Nickelodeon would see the rating's of a show drop by 0.2%, then canceling it because it's not spongebob, the Butch Hartman (Fairly Oddparents creator) interview gives good insight as to how idiotic Nickelodeon is ran (or at least seems to be ran), where Spongebob is like a god to them, and if no show matches it's standards then they get canceled for no good reason.
@kellomellow27916 жыл бұрын
LionManatic2048 well I’ve got one question for you my guy, why can you find any Nickelodeon cartoon on dvd but only like three older Cartoon Network cartoons on dvd? Nickelodeon gives fans what they want way better than Cartoon Network does, but what you said was also true!

In my opinion, while late 2000s-CN had a few good shows, it still wasn't the best time. They were starting to go live-action and lose good shows like Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends and Ed, Edd and Eddy. On top of that, they started airing Canadian teen-centric shows like 6Teen, Stoked, and Total Drama Island/Action (although the Total Drama series is pretty good IMO). Cartoon Network from 2008-2009 kind of paled in comparison to the channel from 2000-2007.

This is one of the best videos you've ever made thus far. ♥ I adored late-90s CN and still greatly enjoyed the channel until about 2007. Even though I did enjoy CN again from 2010 to 2015, the channel went to hell... Between Powerpuff 2016, Ben10 2016, the ultra mega oversaturation of Teen Titans GO, and now the upcoming ThunderCats Roar, I have absolutely no hope for CN as a channel. I just tune in for new episodes of Gumball, Steven Universe, and OK K.O.; once Gumball and Steven Universe come to an end, I'm not even going to give the channel a second of my time anymore. The last ounce of support CN is ever going to see from me again is DVD/Blu-Ray purchases of Regular Show, Adventure Time, Gumball (when it ends), Steven Universe (when it ends), and OK K.O. (when it ends).

There was another mini era that also has been forgotten or unnoticed my many. The Pre-city mini era which ran concurrent with the powerhouse era from 2003 till June 2004. It kinda started when they updated the powerhouse bumpers in Jan 2003 by removing the powerhouse sound tracks from the bumpers (with exception of some of the Coming up NEXT bumpers). By that point CN stopped producing new powerhouse style bumper for shows that premiered since then; instead temporary “modern/magazine style” commercial break bumpers would be used for these shows. Example of these where Duck Dodgers, Teen Titans, XMen revolution etc. Otherwise the generic generic commercial breaks bumpers would be used instead. As CN began adding and promoting newer shows most classics in addition to those airing at late night began to be removed and moved exclusively to the Boomerang block or the channel (the exception to this was Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, the Scooby series, and in some occasions the Flintstones). Also reruns of most of the 90s WB shows were removed from the lineup like Animaniacs, Tiny Toons and Freakazoid along others. The late night slots that were previously used for airing classic shows was given to the block Adult Swim which expanded their block to 5 nights a week; any other day those late night slots where used for reruns of Cartoon Cartoons.The most notable change from this mini era was the removal of the Cartoon Cartoons brand for its original shows in addition to the removal of the Cartoon Cartoon Friday’s block and the premier of the brand new live action hosted Friday night block Fridays which as a staple of the city era. Miguzi another staple of the then upcoming city era also premiered during this mini era along with having the Toonami block on Saturday nights. In 2003 new 3D living room station ids bumpers were added which looked very similar to the some bumpers from the city era. The was also an afternoon block called Last Bell which ran from late 2003 to June 2004. Somewhere around early/mid 2004, blocks such as The Tex Avery show, Chuck Jones show and the Acme Hour which also aired classic cartoons also began to be removed from the channel. In May of 2004, CN had the May Movie Month and the Memorial Day Movie Marathon which was the last special block and marathon from the powerhouse era. Another thing to mention is that there are rumors that weeks prior to the city rebrand, CN did aired some bumpers from the then upcoming city era but as station IDs and with the 1992 checkerboard logo but that hasn’t yet to be confirmed since there is not much recording from that specific period (May 2004 to June 13, 2004). I would like to conclude that this mini era had the most diverse lineup that the channel ever had since there were newer shows and new episodes of many originals and acquired programming, reruns of many originals/cartoon cartoons, anime and actions shows, and some of the remaining older classics like Looney Tones, Tom and Jerry etc.

I have searched and very little information is online and not many people at all remember it. It's literally like Tiny pop (and nick jr I discovered) have archived it or wanted people to forget about it or something. From what I remember it was inoffensive so I can't think of any reason why it's almost been removed from existance. Might worth looking into or keeping an eye on!

Hey Vail I just went on the CN wiki and just got hit by a nostalgia laser stuff like, you are here, noods, and cartoon planet. You should make a video on these.

What's the background music? It sounds familiar.

Did not know of this until this video. I always thought the videos you showed were just promos used by the network. No idea it was a specific era.

I almost forgot about this era myself but I do remember those commercials very well. Definitely reminds me of the good old days of cartoon network.

It's weird hearing I Am Weasel mentioned separately from Cow & Chicken in a video about this era. For the first couple years, they were two parts of the same half-hour show. When I Am Weasel became its own show in 1999, they stopped showing the original I Am Weasel segments during Cow & Chicken. This got weird in one particular episode of Cow & Chicken, where the characters made a joke about the preceding Weasel short, which no longer existed.

well there is another reason why this is a forgotten era, because around October of 1997, my local cable package actually remove Cartoon Network from the lineup and rwplqce it with The Disney Channel, which in prior years was a premium exclusive, and it would be three years before they brought it back, and it's been there ever since

Thanks for the info. I knew I figured those commercials were from one era.

I will NEVER forget original PPG EVER! When I first discovered it I just one day drew them and now after months of practicing for my bday this year my dad let me get an account on deviantart and even though it was massive risk it was a good risk. Not only do I have people on there that like my drawings but some also became my friends on there! For what luck it’s brought me and joy it will always have respect and love in my heart ^^

Did you know the Starburst era debuted the first of CN's Super Bowl parody specials known as "The Big Game"? It began with Tom vs. Jerry.

I do remember the bloopers segment and about the artists vaguely. Didn’t realize it was an era as a child but then again I was like 2 lol

I would have been 10 or 11 during this era and all of these are so fresh in my memory. Guess I was the right age for it to have a big impact. I loved that blooper reel.

I never really grew up with Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon. I actually grew up a little with a obscure channel you probably never heard of called Qubo.

I did too. They played "educational" cartoons that really just had a few good morals here and there. Off the bat I can remember Jacob Two Two, Babar... I can't remember anymore. At (late) night they played old CN toons and He-Man. Most of the shows were from Canada.

I was born early in the 90s, so i remember this era pretty well, even though it wasn't even a year long. I also remembered randomly between commercials there would be an idled cartoon network logo in front of some scenery in complete silence for some reason. If anyone can find it please let me know.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing video about this era a few months ago. It's wierd how people remember seeing eras like Yes! and Summer 2007 (which lasted only 3 months), but this era was completely forgotten somehow.
