The first time I seen Caruso, he was on the Lakers summer league team in 2017. I thought, ok this player is just here to fill a roster spot. He played well enough in the summer league to get invited to training camp. Doesn’t make the team, but is offered the very first two way contract in the NBA for G-League/NBA. He is called up a few times during the season in 2017/18. The following year he makes it as a two way player with G-League/Lakers again and plays well at the end of the season. This year he signs a 2 year Laker contract. Then he actually gets playing time. Then in playoffs he is a key player off the bench. Then he starts the final clinching game for the NBA title. Now he has a ring.

He met the requirements to be put on NBA 1st defensive team this year, has the 2nd best defensive +/- in the league AS A GAURD, has the best networth with Lebron on the floor with him than ANY OTHER DUO IN THE LEAGUE, statistically the best defensive guard in the league. If Caruso can ever get his 3-point percentage up to or near 38-40%, he'd probably be the most valuable role player in the league. There are very few NBA role players with his skill set, especially the guard spot. I thought Pat Connaughton was his closest comparison, but Caruso is the better defender, play-maker, passer, and arguably brings more energy. He just needs to be a more consistent outside shooter.
