This two-step approach is an attempt to navigate current Senate rules and Senate politics. It also gives the Dems time to replace Rep Senators so we actually have the votes to pass M4A. Not being sassy I'm just curious, as a Warren supporter first and foremost would you vote for Bernie if she drops out or if you see no way for her to win? I'm wondering how many Warren supporters would actually go out to vote for Bernie in that case, cause the dynamic and rhetoric between them and their supporters has really been negative lately and I fear it's going to turn off some of her base (even tho I've read half of her supporters have more moderate candidates as their second choice, like Buttigieg or Klobuchar)

@Miikhiel4 жыл бұрын
Gabriel Blais If you’re genuinely curious: If she does not win, I do have other selections in mind- no different than if I didn’t get my first pick in a university or college. Despite the debates and how... petty they can become, I think, as far as their views or principles, they align: they see a systemic issue originating from how our government is being handled- namely by unfit/corrupt politicians- and also wish to realign our country’s values based on principles that would empower the people. They both are interested in serving the people and preventing them from feeling disenfranchised by elitism, corporations, and being “conventional.” Both of them essentially flip a bird to conventional approaches (but neither are so unreasonable either to not be pragmatic about their stances on things). If you look at their history with how they’ve voted or what they support you see they’re not nearly as hawkish and belligerent to working alongside others- a fear that many Democrats have.
@gabrielb.36474 жыл бұрын
@@Miikhiel Thanks for your reply, I was genuinely curious and now I totally agree with you. People are scared both of them don't know how to compromise but pretty much everytime there has been an important vote where the dems needed Bernie or Warren's vote, even though it didn't align with their profound convictions, they voted for incremental progress cause some small change is still better than none. I would love to see both of them in the same administration; Idk how picking her for VP would fare with some Bernie supporters who seem to have cancelled her, but I think she would make a fantastic Treasury Secretary, and if she ever was first in the polls or delegates and Bernie wasn't as high I would vote for her (if I was an American, I'm from Canada)
@Miikhiel4 жыл бұрын
Gabriel Blais I think part of the problem with our politics is we have a mentality of “winner takes all.” If I’m being perfectly honest, my confidence or vote for these candidates has /nothing/ to do with them personally. @masterfulmuffin4 жыл бұрын
I love Elizabeth Warren. She was my #1 pick back in 2019. She has all of the progressive ambitions of Bernie (well, 90% of them) with a sharp intellect and detailed, meticulous plans on how to achieve them. But now that we're a couple of months into 2020, considering how things have shaken out, I think she'd be better off dropping out and endorsing Bernie. Or better yet, running on Bernie's ticket as VP. They've had a couple of speedbumps over the course of the campaign but they are still extremely close allies with extremely similar bases. Warren's base needs to coalesce with Bernie's rather than being divided. Coalesced into a single, huge progressive base, that is so large that it forces moderate democrats to pursue the same agenda. Once they combine, the Democratic party will realize that the *majority* of their party is progressive, and hopefully realize that conservative neoliberalism is futile. A Bernie/Warren ticket is the dream. Warren would also be a phenomenal pick Secretary Of State or some other high ranking cabinet position.

Chloe W on the surface, they both have similar solutions but they're both coming at the problem from different angles and both have different political philosophies. Warren believes you can work within the system to remove the money and corruption that are gunking up the gears in congress. That's why she talks about structural change. Bernie, on the other hand, believes the problem is a politically disconnected population and a completely broken system. He's a political outsider running a populist movement - much like Trump did. That's why I think Bernie will win over Liz. But I also think they're both right in their own ways and agree more with Liz's views of corruption and broken processes in DC stopping any legislative process.

Paul Howard the country is unified behind Bernie. He strong support among POC, women, young voters, people in the military, swing state voters, ‘moderate’ voters. Trump even thinks that Bernie is his biggest threat. Leaked Audio of trump came out where he said that Bernie is the person he least wants to run against. About Bernie not getting things done, he is literally the amendment king. Bernie got amazon workers a raise to a $15 min wage, Got 9 million people health insurance. One more thing, bernie supports democracy, Liz does not. Bernie is the only candidate who says the person with the most votes should win the election. Liz doesn’t. Oh, and how is Liz polling? Seems she is really uniting people with a whole 12% support

@@nakenmil I'm not saying that free market makes everybody happy( free market is base on competition and competition causes winners and losers) but I'm saying that the government should regulate the economy only to prevent the economy from damaging people's health. Giving everybody the same opportunities doesn't mean messing with the market, it means giving losers' children the same opportunities of winners' children
@javierhernandez15554 жыл бұрын
alberto migliavacca if you let the free market run rampant, regular people hurt the most. Most companies will run a race to the bottom where they will want to minimize labor and maximize monopolization. No interference means mega corporation like Walmart can start consolidating power until they Reign supreme and set prices at whatever they want. Just look at Rockefeller and how he ran Standard Oil. Imagine a world where there is only one airline. Wanna fly? I feel like Los Angeles to Charlotte is $5000. These companies have ONE directive. Make the most money, and they are not afraid of trampling other businesses or people to get there. You have a better case arguing for some regulation or smart regulation. You don’t want the government to be so afraid innovation is stalled.
