@@LoisoPondohva the storage exists for sure but the main reasons institutions refuse to upgrade is because of cost IMO. not that it's not a worthy investment but they just don't wanna go balls deep on 100s of terabytes of storage cause "if it aint broke don't fix it." keep in mind an hour of 1080p video is just over a gigabyte and having to store all that over a long term (something like 200 GB per day per camera for up to 90 days) poses a definite challenge. Either way ur right, institutions don't care to spend money on this sort of thing, but the less it costs the more they start to consider it.

@@pseudonym50 sure, and if it was free, they would upgrade even sooner. The point is, cost is rarely a deciding factor in institutions. It's lack of will and initiative. The relative cost of systems that are currently installed in most government institutions was far more at the time of their installment, than a cost of comparable 1080p system now. They were installed just because the need became undeniable as old systems aged. Current systems haven't aged to that extent, and the process of dragging upgrades through all the instances of decision-making, procurement and installation is a long process itself. And 1080p video is 40 gb per 24 hours, not 200. Neither are 24-hour feeds stored for 3 months. But suppose they were. That makes a 10-camera system of 1080p video producing 400 gb per day, making it 36 tb in 3 months. And that is 600 - 1200$ in HDDs. Less than it typically costs to state to hold ONE inmate for that time by a factor of 2-5 depending on the state.

I see people here saying the female detective's emotions got in the way, and so on, but I think it was an excellent strategy for two reasons. First she totally blind sides him by going from silence, using her phone, totally uninterested etc, to full hysterics, which I think disoriented him. Second is total conjecture from me but I think her begging him to tell her, continuously saying 'please, please, Lee' was to almost imitate the victim in a sense to heighten his anxiety, and also to psychologically give him a chance to 'do things right' this time round. If you notice this was during and after they were building him up saying he wasn't evil, it was probably a mistake or an overdose. I think it was a really interesting strategy and I'm sure they chose a woman to play this part for a good reason. Anyway, it worked.

I think the saddest part to me, other than Savannah’s passing, is the fact that she was able to kick the door open multiple times!! She was fighting to get out! I often come back to the few videos remaining on this channel. Their are many imitators on this platform but none come close to the quality of JCS. Just the explanation of feelings when the detectives walk through the door really give some proper insight into what the suspect is feeling. Rodarte was ultimately found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to 40 years in prison. He received this verdict as part of a plea deal, which allowed him to take a reduced sentence if he changed his plea to guilty. Lee Rodarte is 31 years old and is serving his 40-year sentence in a Florida prison. He will be 71 at the time of his release.

Unfortunately he probably won't do the full 40. He deserves to serve that and more don't get me wrong but often people get credit for pre-sentence time (like in detention centers they often give you 1.5 to 2 days credit off your sentence for every day you serve), they file appeals to get time reduced for good behavior, poor prison conditions and/or cooperation in other cases (prison snitches) and finally parole which usually they go for once they complete two thirds of their sentence. That means he'll start seeing the parole board after 26 years or so. He deserves to be buried under the prison for what he did but it's unlikely he will actually serve the full 40 before getting out. He's serving time in a Florida State Prison though, which will be Hell on Earth for him. The 30-35 years he does serve will be torture thankfully. Just seen the part where they said they took him to the Duvall County Jail. No doubt in my mind dude had a rough go in there. One of the roughest jails in the entire USA. He probably got beat, extorted, turned out and all that.

Nah, Florida law is a minimum of 85% of a sentence has to be served. Inmates have the ability to get gaintime (10 days for every month) but can only apply that gaintime to however long the last 15% calculates out to. But the 15% off your sentence isn't guranteed and still must be earned throughout your sentence through work programs and education/good behavior.

My heart breaks for this woman and her family. So young and beautiful. She deserved so much more life. When Lee said 'this is the last time I'll be wearing a chefs jacket', and degrading himself, I felt so sad. Don't get me wrong, what he did was disgusting and horrifying, and he treated her body with so much disrespect. He deserved whatever sentence he got. I'm glad he was found. But the emotional/compassionate side of me feels so sad that this man ruined his own life. There's something about watching the moment somebody's dreams disappear and their futures destroyed, their own fault or not...makes me feel sad. I feel greater sadness for the victims who also lost their future, of course. I'm sure there is something in psychology that can explain why some of us feel sadness when a criminal ruins their own life.
