Outstanding performance! I miss music and dancing like this. I remember seeing The Jackson 5 on The Ed Sullivan Show. This brings back sweet memories of that time. They are legends, and these performers did a fantastic job emulating them. They are so talented!

Everyone is trying to be nice but not say the obvious. It's off beat!!! I said it! Now, the reasoning is not anything on them, more than likely the sound is off, specifically l, ear monitors. They are probably having trouble hearing the music/backing tracks. I say this because they are all equally off in timing but in the same time together (if you get it). They sound AMAZING and dancing is DOPE!!!

They’ve come to the show multiple times (Jackson 5 including Tito and MJ kids), and come backstage and to events multiple times. Plus their estate approved the musical. They have told us stories that were bought up from scenes in the show. They are with it :)

These Broadway adaptions of pop music artists make the choreography unnecessarily complicated and really take away some of the “authenticity”. I get trying to put some individualistic spin on the original concepts, but a lot of these musicals based on popular artists really take liberties with the music and dancing that really feel out of place when telling the story of the subjects of the show.

This exact performance isn’t the ’Broadway adaptation’ - it’s simply the performance created for this show.

@@jamesd1590This is choreography created and authorized to represent MJ: The Musical using cast members from the show (Broadway or touring company)… Regardless of whether or not this actual staging appears in the show, it is showcasing what the audience should expect to see if/when they see the show. What I see here is something overly complicated to what the original routines looked like. The same can be said about the way that the Broadway choreographers made routines for “Ain’t Too Proud”, “Motown the Musical”, “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical”, “Jersey Boys” and other similar shows where the modern stylization is actually a distracting element to audience member who might be hoping for something more authentic to the sound, look and style of the actual era.

I think that goes to what the goal of the show is and it being on a stage vs say; a tv or movie screen - for example; Who is the story being told to, how to keep people coming to see the show, etc...there are many, many reasons choices are made, for each show. Difficult to appease any one set of preferences when striving for multiple goals..

They did this entire sequence MULTIPLE times in a TIGHT time frame, because only so much time was allotted to film by stage mangement, contracts, etc., so naturally ANYONE would be slightly winded. Honestly I LIKE that you can hear who he is as a REAL singer - it adds authenticity and a real appreciation for singing live WHILE DOING CHOREOGRAPHY ON STAIRS AND A STAGE - try adding all those elements and see what ya get. They were great💪🏾
