Barrie was probably the best actor on the show, and his talent and range really carried a lot of episodes (and he's even played a few other characters as well on various shows). I'd pick Robert Llewellyn as my second favorite. Craig Charles does a great job as Lister, but his role is a lot easier, imo. Danny John Jules is also good for his role too, but it's obviously the shallowest and simplest role of the four main characters.

"Chris Barrie was absent for part of series 7 and missed 4"...Er...you sure? S4E1 - Camille - Rimmer (among others) meets a female version of himself S4E2 - DNA - Rimmer says one of his usual lines in this..."Aliens. They're probably going to return Glenn Miller!" S4E3 - Justice - As described on google, "The crew of the Red Dwarf find themselves on Justice World, an abandoned penal colony equipped with a `justice field' which inflicts the consequences of a crime on its perpetrator. The innocent have nothing to fear, but Rimmer is in big trouble." RIMMER is in big trouble, which is kinda impossible if he missed the series. S4E4 - White Hole - Rimmer takes a back seat in this one, but one of the funniest parts of the show with the repeating dialogue has him repeatedly saying "A *white* hole?" S4E5 - Dimension Jump - The quintessential Rimmer episode, where we get to meet Ace Rimmer from a different dimension (as well as the usual Rimmer) S4E6 - Meltdown - An episode that isn't very Rimmery, but where else in the whole show (with a waxwork version of Gandhi in this case) could you have Rimmer saying "Don't eyeball me, Gandhi!" In all, a poorly written clip missing tons of actors (Tony Hawks, for instance) and including a bunch (David Ross, C.P. Grogan) who only starred in very few episodes...You mention the voiceover artist for Talkie Toaster, but neglect the voiceover artist for the vending machines.
@boswell2552 жыл бұрын
They even said Clare Grogan was in series 6. That was Chloe Annett, a whole different actress. Their research must have involved nothing more than looking at the top google results and hoping for the best.
@smeggeruk2 жыл бұрын
Chloe was in from S7, and Clare *was* in one episode of S6 (Psirens) though TBH I don't personally remember her in anything but the earlier episodes (though from what I researched, she did have a small part that I should remember...it's been years since I watched 🙂). Clare was nothing more than a guest star at this point though, although TBH until S7 she'd always been a bit part player rather than a main part of the show...and, as is always the case with female characters, she was deemed "too old" to play Kochanski when they decided to bring the character back as a main character...Most true fans of the show think that Clare should have continued the character, though it probably still wouldn't have salvaged the car crash that was S7!

From that first broadcast, slotted after " Monty Pythons Flying Circus" on PBS, I was hooked. Never saw a sci-fi comedy, nor heard of one since Douglas Adams' work. "Let the costuming replicating begin!" That had me wearing cargo pants, a eelskin cap turned deerstalker, and a dozen green/gray/brown shirts. Today, I'm blessed to have completed my take on Lister, including dreads sewn in the cap, and London Jets and Mugs Murphy t shirts. My jacket is one of the melton jackets from the 1990's. Yes, Lister is my favorite, but it's an ensemble cast dynamic. Besides, Lister has: a Cat, a Mechanoid, and a familiar Smeghead for company-ish.
