Okay- so everyone is talking about this interview with Juliette. She's totally fine up until the question about what the writers have in store for season two and beyond (this interview is before they were renewed). From what I gather, she is more of a movie person and not used to television where the entire script is already written. Like the said in the interview, she didn't know her character was going to be so depressing and coming straight out of Covid that might have been a huge bummer for her to play such a dark role. What she said about the 90s and "I like being in the present" is referring to the fact that she is not a new actor. She's been doing this since she was 19 years old and is a veteran actor (same with Christina Ricci). In the 90's and beyond, a lot of media focused on her drug addiction than on her acting, and she takes her job very seriously. I'm just bummed so many people are hating on her. Yeah, it was rude to storm off the stage but knowing how she feels about her specific way of acting and as an artist, it's understandable. She seemed happier in the interviews around the second season and has praised everyone that has worked on the show. I'll die on the hill defending her haha.

Don’t forget Melanie has been in this business too since the 90’s(Heavenly Creatures 1994 with Kate Winslet), but neither Melanie or Christina stormed off stage. I get playing something you weren’t expecting or feeling like maybe you were duped, but she could have held on a few more minutes. I honestly was fine with what Juliette said at the end , what I think set her off was Tawny’s “stop”. Ngl I went 😬 when she said it. So I get being irritated. But I have been in multiple situations where I’ve had to hold it together for a couple more minutes when at work when I felt like I couldn’t. Don’t get me wrong, Juliette Lewis is talented and from I hear a really nice person. I just think this particular situation could have been handled better. However maybe something triggered some trauma. It just made the ending pretty uncomfortable.

Juliette Lewis is a fucking rock star. She lived the 90s HARD and going back to it obviously opened up some wounds. I read that she didn't like the path Natalie's character took as opposed to how she was initially presented to her, and I'm hoping that, in season two, she's given the opportunity to evolve beyond the broken person she portrayed this season. That being said, I wouldn't be remotely surprised if she decided not to come back as she's notoriously picky about what she does in her career (and is still out there fronting Juliette and the Licks, which she's made a priority over her acting career). She's definitely more of an artist than someone who shows up for a paycheck.
@A_O_Leary3 жыл бұрын
I can't wait for season two Natalie. She knew Travis didn't kill himself but everyone just dismissed her and then Shauna really played on her doubts so she'd stop asking about Adam. Tai and Shauna just shove that shit down and put on a fake smile. Misty has no feelings that extend beyond herself. i really do hope Juliette comes back and i THINK she will because this project has gotten so much traction and fan fare.

This cast is the best cast ever. I’ve never felt so strongly about a cast before, but they’re all phenomenal at what they do, makes the show so much more enjoyable. As for Juliette, things happen everyday, and while luckily for like me I get so sit at home alone when I’m upset, she has to come to these for her cast mates and the show. Basically we all have off days and we’re all entitled to feel how we feel. She was upset but I don’t think it had anything to do with the cast mates at all and I don’t think she was trying to be cold to Tawny either. Sometimes when you’re upset and someone tries to cheer you up it’s not always going to make your mood 100% better, but you still appreciate it on the inside. We have no idea what was going on. I just hope everything is well for her and also Nat actually is a fantastic character, I never disliked her, I’ve considered her someone who is just in a lot of pain from the past and wants to run from it. Everyone copes different. Excited to see where her storyline goes, I hope Nat gets happier soon.

Juliette Lewis must have been having a bad day because she's much nicer and more outgoing in her instagram videos. She sometimes does live videos out of the blue and seems to actually enjoy speaking to her followers and seeing their comments. Though she adopts a "Today I'm going to talk about this" approach and doesn't pay too much attention to the stream of little comments and questions, which is actually a smart thing to do because on livestreams the comments are mostly quite banal. She's quite eccentric but she's obviously lived an interesting life and shows some wisdom.
@AM-fy8po3 жыл бұрын
Juliette Lewis’s attitude could be related to her personal life/career. She could have felt trapped by the production by playing something similar to what happened to her (drug, love loss, depression..). She dealt with heavy drugs/cocaine addiction and depression when she was young, after the break up with brad pitt, while at the very top of her fame & career. This caused her to disappear for years, and kinda slowed down/stopped her career. Even tho she has been clean for decades, the medias keep on bringing up this subject in every interviews and she is really annoyed by it. She has all rights to be upset if she wasn’t fully aware of the character’s storyline…And for an actress we rarely see on screen, who’s constantly reminded of her past, that’s probably not the kind of scenario she would have chosen. As someone who overcame her dark path she might have liked a different direction for Nat’ who already survived a hardcore childhood, the crash situation and years in the wood… and who’s now relapsing?

@@TheChance1991 I guess, but still, that's someone doing their job so it's nice to be respectful towards them. Idk. I guess since this is being filmed and uploaded onto KZbin, the questions are aimed at what they think the general audience would like to know about. Which tends to be standard stuff. It's probably meant to be casual and entertaining, not an in-depth interview. Speaking as someone who did interviewing on an amateur level - if you want to dig a bit deeper and come up with more original questions, there has to be space for that on the platform you're doing the interview for. Maybe there wasn't here. It is true that the cast have repeated themselves a lot though - I've heard a lot of these answers before, like how they prepared for playing the same person, so I can imagine that getting boring for them. The interviewer is just doing a job though, maybe she's not even in charge of the questions, so acting so overtly disinterested is a bit impolite imo. Then again we don't know what else she had on her mind.

I'm surprised at how unprofessional Juliette was in this interview. She's a veteran actress, and is making it look bad for the show. I think she's doing a great job as Nat, but she's making it seem like she was lied to about her role. Still doesn't excuse her behavior during press.

I think Juliette was annoyed because the interviewer throws the "arc of character" question right at her...and she (JL) passed on it only to have the interviewer ask another version of the question later. Parts of Nats character likely hit home for JL and the host had to go there. Twice. Don't trigger your guests.
@yuncreations3 жыл бұрын
So at the end, she answers the host’s first question, that she passed on at the beginning. But I don’t understand why the interviewer directed it only to her and not to all of them.

Is it just me or does it feel like Juliette is jumping ship from this project at @25:05 ??? like everything she's saying is a hint: - explaining why she's can't come back-- cuz it's too hard on her mental health embodying a characters on their decline. (This is probably especially tough when she herself has stuggled with addiction) -saying things like it "wasnt was she expected", suggesting she's not having the time she wanted(and we all know Juliette only does was she wants in her life & career) - clarifying that she didn't know the trajectory of the character when she signed on, indicating she wouldnt have taken the gig in the first place if she did. -by complimenting the show and everyone on it and uplifting the project, like she's showing how her leaving isn't personal and people should still enjoy the show and continue to appreciate the remaining cast. - talking about the show like it's a thing of the past "Natalie WAS depressing to play", "this WAS a post pandemic show" The writers are gonna have to change something or she's quitting. I'm calling it now. also no kidding she walked off-- her costar shut her honesty & authenticity down after she just opened up about her struggles.
@naturistfred2 жыл бұрын
Yes, agreed. I thought she was giving subliminal hints there. Since the show has been renewed, this is the time they can all negotiate their contracts (ask for more money and storyline changes). So anything is possible.

Anyone notice that interaction between Tawny and Juliette at 26:10? Trying to read their body language, it almost seemed like Juliette gave a pretty mute response, and Tawny tries to go along with it and touches her arm before rolling her eyes. I might be reading too much into but I thought it was possible, seeing as she stormed off the stage the second the panel was over.
