this song always makes me reflect on all the lives lost in this universe and in such a needless way too. I think back to the first game and how I'm witnessing all the body bags lined up on the sidewalks, people's family and loved ones literally just dumped on the side of the road next to piles of nasty garbage. That's all anybody was when they died; leftover trash. I remember walking through an abandoned school set up as an emergency shelter on the east side of the map and felt a little weird at how desolate it was compared to other parts of the game. There were empty rooms all over with light sources still on making it feel like everyone just up and left in a hurry. No bodies or signs of blood or fighting anywhere! It wasn't until I reached the roof of the school that the reality of the situation hit me, and it hit me HARD. There was a giant mass grave up there; it was mostly covered up with that blue tarp you sometimes see in other places but the limbs of corpses were poking out in all directions. Arms, hands, legs and feet all jumbled up in this terrible amalgamation of a pit that likely had a hundred or so dead bodies in it. All regular people from different walks of life who were just living their lives and trying to get by before this bioweapon was released into the world, now gone forever and left to rot away while their remaining family members struggle to cope in this new unforgiving world. Many people likely died alone and afraid, powerless to stop anything. This franchise has such excellent environmental storytelling. I love these games and the things it tries to teach us about the nature of our society, how fragile it is but also how resilient we are. Its only been made more prevalent with covid in our world. Its definitely one of those coincidences that made me stop and think a lil. Its something that we should all do at the very least because its scary just how many people don't know that this game could happen for rel. And it almost did.....hell covid was just as bad as the dollar flu in some of the poorer third world countries.

@@sunshoe-l5r and what do you think Tom was trying to encode in all of us, as gamers? during COVID, it didn't strike you a little bit as curious that Tom's last video game he had worked on the story hand in hand, was explicitly focused on INDIVIDUAL AGENTS, cut off from mother-base, having to restablish reality and truth amidst a world utterly torn apart by an ultra-threat, and that he was maybe, just maybe hiding a meta message within his game about the likeliest thing to happen to us next, just in case he wouldn't make it, so that some of us might snap to, wake up, and start thinking as autonomous agents in a 5th generational battlespace? no?? just me???

@@sunshoe-l5r personally, I think, Tom wanted anyone, but mainly the people listening, HIS AUDIENCE, the readers, the gamers, to be prepared for what he assumed would be the next likeliest mass calamity to hit mankind: a man made viral outbreak..... he didn't have the entire board, he only knew the pieces would be in play one day.... so, he did the only thing he could without raising both suspicion and mockery: encode his message and the proper way of thinking into narrative format, make it a good goddamn story, like he always had, and hope that perhaps, admist the upcoming chaos, someone would connect the dots and realize what he had been teaching us all along, from the beginning, from Division 1: Can You Really Trust What You're Being Told? ;))))) ahjhh but this flew over most peoples heads, clearly! This is just a game, i'll be told!! i'm crazy for "reading into it" XD uh huh

@@maeton-gaming yea these stories are so much more than just a game. MGS2 predicted social media and what it will do to our civilization over 20 years ago yet only gamers talk about it….I tried to tell my friends irl about watching videos on this subject but literally not a peep from them at all regarding it. So idk, I think our world is fated to continue on track to destruction either by war (Dollar Flu is a war against humanity as a whole) or by a failing social structure. Probably both. Maybe we’ll get lucky and the AI’s of our world will be more benevolent than MGS and won’t enslave the entire race to the war machine lol…..

@@sunshoe-l5r video games are a medium, a profoundly interactive medium with which I feel like some legendary videogame developers realized they had a chance to make an impact perhaps greater in some ways, than film... And excellent point about Kojima, mffer was talking about memes before memes were memes 😭 && Perhaps as the world starts to feel the stranglehold of it's owners as they themselves feel the squeeze of their own consequences bearing down on them, you really might only be allowed or get away with trying to spread an effective message by hiding it in good art... Finally, allow me to end on this.... Perhaps, it is only our perception and illusion that the world is falling apart.... I dare you to do the most blasphemous and hererical thing you can do.... Ignore the journalists. Ignore the talking heads.... Ignore the yappucinos, the useless drivel of repeated institutional paradigm that literally just repeats what the rich owner class pays them to ... Consider that the people who own this planet and rule us, are deeply and hopelessly enchanted by Malthus's calculations, to the point where they arrogantly and smugly call themselves Malthusians, and argue how it's not a bad thing to cut down the population, cause what if THEY don't make it.... But also, (&& please, don't believe a word I'm saying. Trust, but verify. Look it up yourself.) consider finally, that Malthus was proven wrong.... His calculations had all sorts of flawed variables that have since been scrutinized TO THE MOON and back... Cause, yeah, he kinda was the first "viral" collapse scare-guy who caused such a ruckus, we feel it's echos hundreds of years later ;) but he was proven deeply wrong.... Keep that in mind, the next time they tell you what to fear ;) don't give in, rage against the dying of the hopeful light they dare to say there isn't enough of , and guess what? You'll make it. We'll make it Because we always have.
