Do you have any pets in your home? Maybe you have a cat rather like Tom.
Tom the cat does...well...cat things and Sam's mum thinks "That cat seems ti think he is the king of this place"
Tom's day, actually every day, starts with a mission and that is to eat and to play. So the first thing on Tom's mind is food and in order to get that he needs his food bowl filling and that means jumping on to Mum's bed and kneading his paws into her head. That is just the start to Tom's day as he lies on the cleans washing, chews the heads off mums favourite flowers, meows to go out then meows to come in, leaves dirty paw mask on mums sweater, nibbles at the warm cake, admires himself in the mirror, leaves a puddle under the stairs... and so much more. But at the end of the day Tom likes to snuggle down with sam.
I love everything about this book, Tom is the most wonderful, loveable and captivating character who most certainly the king of the house, like most cats are. Such an enjoyable fun read written in rhyme and with some repetition that is so engaging and adds to the flow of the writing. You do not have to be a cat lover to enjoy this story but if you have a cat it is absolutely relatable, and I say that with a huge smile (and five cats). The illustrations are so beautifully drawn, full of expression and the cheekiness of Tom shines out as well as the love that the family feels for Tom.
