Happy to say that I was at this game, and from my seat I couldn’t see Jerry Rice fumble the ball. I suppose, just like in life, you win some and you lose some. And that day, I saw one of the best contests ever played on a football field. After the game, we stayed inside the Stick for close to an hour, screaming our heads off and celebrating the win. My voice didn’t get back to normal until the following week. What a game.

I really enjoy that moment and the add in by Summerall "That's not money he's crying." and then I cringe when I realize T.O.'s future of "I love me some me!" and how it all started with this one moment of glory for him. No, it wasn't about money...yet. Or perhaps it was never about money for Owens, just an unbearable ego. Yet in spite of that, the raw emotion this moment still holds can still get me choked up anyway.

Pat Summerall is a overrated mediocre commentator. There I said it. I don’t care if you oldheads get triggered. Like forreal. Pat sounds like he should be commentating in the 1950s or something. One of the greatest moments in playoff history and he honestly ruins it with his boring, dull commentary. Even Joe Buck sounds way more charismatic and enthusiastic whenever there’s a big moment. Go watch Stefon Diggs Minneapolis Miracle and tell me if Joe Buck is supposedly any less “boring” compared to Pat Summerall. Here are some modern commentators who are objectively better than Summerall at calling games: Joe Buck, Kenny Albert, Thom Brennaham, Kevin Burkhardt, Jim Nantz, Greg Gumbel, Kevin Harlan, Ian Eagle, Al Michaels, etc.

I remember this game like it was yesterday. I was 49ers fan in 4th grade at the time and I hated The Packers with a passion. Today, I respect them, but I hated them back then because they kept beating the 49ers in each playoffs before this one. My friends and I used to call Brett Farve "Brett Fart!" I watched this with my family and we all thought history was going to repeat again. When Young threw that pass to Owens, we all jumped out of our sofas cheering! Both my Grandpa (RIP) and Uncle (both hardcore 49er fans since the 60s) were almost in tears because the 49ers FINALLY won against the Packers. I miss the good ol' days when the 49ers were an elite team and they were a blast to watch. The late 90's were great when both the 49ers and The SF Giants were always on top.

According to the announcer most hot NFL QB bullets are in the 40's and 50's. He was known for his 90+mph fast ball as a pitcher in college. Anyone know Brett Favre's bullet speed? Or Marino's or Elways? I'm sure those guys are up there, too. All super strong arms. I'm sure Mahomes can bring the heat, too.

I grew up watching the 49ers and this is one of my favorite games.. and I really do miss John Madden and Pat summerall... The San Francisco was fighting I like him to beat the Dallas cowboys and only finally did here comes the Green Bay Packers 49ers three times in the postseason I believe... Which is really ironic because now the Green Bay Packers played the San Francisco 49ers four times this past decade in the postseason and lost all four to the 49ers...

This was an awesome game and yes Rice did fumble but instant replay was not available that year plus the defenders arm was in the way which blocked the view of the referee. I couldn't stand GB but I respect Favre because he said Steve Young was the only player that he hated competing against because he said he never quit. Awesome game and a more memorable finish for T.O. because he had such a terrible game up to that point.

Robert Brooks committed a clear pass interference on drakeford in the end of the 1st quarter that should've kept the packers from scoring their first touchdown. It shouldn't have even come down to the catch 2. "Wow" if instant replay and challenges were there, brooks would've cost his team 10 yards and maybe the packers would've managed to kick a long field goal at most. Btw Henderson fumbled the year before in the NFCCG. You can't just define a game by one bad call and just because of that say X team shouldn't have won. All games have missed calls. Get over it, fudge packer

Yep, the NFL has taken away defenders and great hitting defensive football. Since the Brady rule in 2008, the game has been softened yearly. The NFL wants these baby faced QBs straight outta college to start instantly. A QB like Patrick Mahomes will never see a hard hitting defense that could hit low and blitz without worrying about a yellow hanky. Players like Reggie White, Bruce Smith, Kevin Green, Ronnie Lott, Charles Haley and so on are obsolete in todays offensive NFL.

Yup, this is why I can't take the "Brady being the greatest of all time" argument seriously. In the latter half of his career you couldn't even LOOK at him the wrong way without a roughing penalty. The Jones call in the 2018 AFC title game is a great example. The QB's in the old days got demolished and so did the receivers coming across the middle 90% of the time. It's a totally different game now.

We always forget about Craig Newsome's near miss and the great play by J.J. Stokes to be a defender and (illegally?) pulling him back just enough to stop the game clinching INT at 2:03:45. I mean, ONE PLAY LATER, Owens makes that incredible catch.

I never got over this one as a Packer fan. Jerry Rice fumbled. We had it won. I know, it's 4 quarters, you got all day to win a game, but in a tough game like this against a strong opponent, little margins can decide it. We've won some games the same way so all is fair I guess, but for this specific game, no I never got over it.

'The Catch III' in the 2011 NFC Divisional Playoff Game against the New Orleans Saints had a similar ending: Alex Smith drove down the field like Steve Young did, Smith threw a dart to Vernon Davis who, like Terrell Owens, had to absorb a big hit in the end zone and hang onto the ball in the same endzone.
