I love this it has blessed my soul. Jake Hess was one of the most humble Christian men who always kept his eye on the prize seeking God's favor. Jake was a man who truly was after God's own heart. I have always enjoyed hearing him sing. This was the icing on the cake. I know when Jake got to heaven George, Glen and Rodger were waiting ready to join Jake singing for their Lord and Master in heaven. Thanks for posting.

Only Hovie was missing. All my favorite legends right there. The love and respect is evident. So much talent yet so humble. I am in tears, bittersweet tears. I will be with them soon, singing and skoochin Hovie over playing 4 hands!

I remember a story about how Jake came to one of (if not the) Ernie’s first performances with the Cathedrals ready to give them another option for a tenor, but Jake liked Ernie so much that that was that. I’m curious as to if this was that night.
@Djm85202 жыл бұрын
In a word, no! Jake sings lead and Ernie sings tenor. Jake and Glen Payne sing the same part. When Ernie joined the Cathedrals, in 1990, Jake was retired. A year later all that changed when the first Bill Gaither Homecoming Friends video was released.

@@Djm8520 The option was obviously not Jake, himself. He had a newcomer that he knew of if Ernie didn’t work out. Jake didn’t sing professionally in the same group with George until after Glenn passed when they form the Old Friends Quartet.

@@b.strong9347 Clearly you did not understand my comment.
@b.strong93472 жыл бұрын
@@Djm8520 Then what did you mean if it wasn’t that Jake had the name of another tenor ready (that wasn’t himself)?
@Djm85202 жыл бұрын
@@b.strong9347 No, that part was clear as your comment was unclear. The second part of my post was that Bill Gaither took Jake out of retirement, not that he sang with George.
