So that's how you do that.😊 Thanks for sharing. Ericka, You should never question a complement. I have a sister who used to do that, until I quit giving them. Once she missed them , she quit questioning.😊 Enjoyed watching you two work together.

Also most farming accidents are from rushing and trying to save time. On the animal side, slow down and realize what the task at hand is prior to and through the first few and things will eventually fall into place. Machinery is totally different, NEVER think that it is a good idea to do anything while the machine is running or hooked up to a running source. Turn it off, inspect and repair. This is by no means a nasty comment, if only one person reads this and thinks about it later in life then that’s what it is for. Raised on a farm and personally know farmers that have been taken away due to “SAVING TIME” leaving the tractor running with the PTO on a shit spreader being froze and trying to free it up and slipped on the ice while getting it freed up and being sent through the spreader. Not much to identify in the situation. Please take time and be cautious.🇺🇸🙏

Ericka, I love those earrings! Are those turquoise stones, they’re beautiful! Loved your video and always enjoy seeing you two work side by side, you’ve got rhythm! Thank you for sharing Cody and using your channel to promote therapy and good mental health. Everyone needs someone to talk to at some point along the path of life and it’s nice to have people that they trust and admire such as yourselves to give reassurance to reach out for some support through difficult times. Farmers and Ranchers carry a huge burden of stress on their shoulders as it’s their livelihood and not a job you walk away from in eight hours. Your family always makes my heart feel good. By the way I love the sound of the gates, don’t grease them. Lol. ❤❤

Do you make alot of your dinners in the crockpot or slowcooker since you are so busy? Thank you for introducing BetterHealth. You did a great service.
@Bar7Ranch4 ай бұрын
Since we are carnivore now, we dont use the crockpot much. I make a roast a week in it and then we usually grill the rest or use the airfryer. Either way, just eating meat has definitely simplified things for us! We usually find ourselves eating really late unfortunately since it stays daylight so long. And thank you Carol. It's definitely a subject near to our hearts.

Cody, there’s a National school program called farm to school. They encourage schools to buy locally. It’d be a good steady source of revenue but your beef would have to be USDA inspected.
@Bar7Ranch4 ай бұрын
Thanks! We plan on moving to USDA inspected. We have some schools here locally moving to local beef!

Great video! I was thinking that you might consider getting an iPad with a tough/rugged case to record your steers when you run them through for weighing etc. It might be a little easier to enter the info etc than using your phone. Just a thought!

Y’all should consider doing a summer camp for younger kids for one week out of the summer like half a day summer camp I’m sure it would be extra work of course, but you could generate income doing that and the kids would love it! I’m not sure about how you would handle any kind of liability. I guess that could be an issue. I don’t know. I’m just thinking off the top of my head that it would be really fun for kids to spend time on a farm and learn to appreciate what all goes into farming and where their food comes from.
@Bar7Ranch4 ай бұрын
Yes my grandmother has always wanted to do that on their place!! We enjoyed the FFA kids we had out recently and hope to host groups occasionally on a small scale for now. ❤️

Just curious if this first turn of steers is just trial and error? Or, are you tracking purchase cost, inbound freight, interest, feed, yardage, medicine cost, feed conversion, cost of gain, etc.?

We’ve been feeding steers for 10+ years on a smaller scale. We track everything.

Now I’m going to have to rewatch the video 🤦🏻♀️ We must have put that content in a short video because I know we talked about it. Sometimes things get jumbled!
@SJKlaus27984 ай бұрын
Why would think it is just the young people’s? Some people don’t want to use any of that stuff and yes I know about all that and we use none of that stuff in our beef cattle and they gain just fine and butcher out great. Been cattle ranching 54 years and each rancher does there on thing.

If you have never heard of R-Calf USA, give the organization a look. Supporting independent US farmers and ranchers is something we all could be doing better at, and that is what that organization stands for.
