Anyway. Skid loader or backhoe these things are not as easy as they make it look to control. One little miscalculation and it could take out the roof or one of the sides. So kudos to the operator.

As I expected of anyone Rusty hires, they're doing it right and not just pouring it on top, which would have reduced garage height and clearance, and would have made maintaining the bottom edge of the building impossible. There is more labor and equipment involved than just plopping down 7.1 cubic yards of concrete and leveling it. Excavate, level, pour, level or slope for drainage, finish/texture. Put the excavated material wherever Rusty points to, or truck it away. Maybe manage the moisture of it, by covering with cloth/hay or misting it, whatever. Probably different in the desert than here.

Concrete consists of cement and an aggregate. An aggregate may be stone, shell, natural or synthetic. There are many recipes depending on the depth, weather, usage, etc., with or without reinforcing materials. If reinforcing bars are used, the device upon which it rests is called a "chair". For history buffs: the concrete in the Hoover Dam is not expected to be fully cured until 2036. Sensors are keeping track of it. It involves temperatures...
