I think anyone growing up with childhood trauma can see the video meaning. It's very deep and artistic! It shows a child growing up in a family of dispute, but he sees himself in the future as reassurance that things will workout and he'll be ok. In short, it's an imagination of hope and optimism in dark times. But it also shows the imagination of our youth that we lose in adulthood.

The best way is pick up a book, be with nature in the trails, play a piano with headphones on and just think about those memories. When you do that, the good memories-- you unlock a lot of good imagination.

Beautiful song and music video. I look at this one one of two ways, either he is a neglected single child whose parents ignore him so he is imagining himself in the future. He has a desire to grow up and be free from the trouble at home. Or he has an older brother who died and he is looking to connect with his brother in some way and his parents fighting is caused by the loss of his older brother.

The whole Album, Wayward Fire, is all & nothing about break up. It's literally an ideal album for a break up, if you ask me. The song is basically saying, The relationship is going rotten, they're still "facing forward, but moving backwards" & they're both "holding on for a new day" And then "And I'll wait to decide, if I'll open up my eyes" He doesn't want the relationship to end. But he knows it's bad. Then at the end "Stop pushing away" He wants them to keep trying instead of just... giving up.
