Tbh, this song came out when I was broken hearted I listened to it right when it came out and coming back to it now makes me think “wow I’m still in love with that stupid person that broke my heart” but it’s because I still use my heart till this day. From the last video, about 76 of you saw my comment. Even tho most people don't care, imma keep this theory going. But now, I'm stumped... Last time we had: From Sick Boy onward the songs have stayed connected in some aspects, mainly them being sick In the Sick Boy video we see three people (The Chainsmokers and Matt McGuire) preforming on an empty soundstage. These might be the sick individuals in our story. Their internals are exposed by stage lights through out the video, making them look sick . In the lyrics of Sick Boy we hear Andrew saying ''I live in a prison, that i built myself...'', making it seem like he knows that hes a monster of some sort. Next up we have ''You Owe Me'', where in the video The Chainsmokers and their guests/meal are the characters. At first it seems normal, they're cleaning their house which can also be their prison where they keep themselves isolated from normal people. When the guests arrive, at the table The Chainsmokers turn in to some sick cannibals eating out their guests/meal alive. What we get from the video is that they lure people in to their prison even tho they probably know that it's wrong. In the lyrics Andrew says ''You don't know me, don't you think that I get lonely?'' pointing out that they need friends, but can't because they can't control their vampire like state. Next is ''Everybody Hates Me''. The video doesn't tell much until we reach the point where they seem to be in the club where everyone is wearing a ✘一✘ like mask. These people are the ''Everybody'' in ''Everybody Hates Me'', and they hate Andrew for not accepting who he truly is, a monster. In the lyrics we can hear Andrew say ''Yeah, I just want to drink tequila with my friends''. The thing is that he doesn't have friends, because he can't have friends as previously mentioned. He also says ''I'm talkin' to myself, shit, now they think I'm crazy'' which tells us that his friends are not real. Next we have ''Somebody''. where it looks like Andrew and his group is sick of everybody hating on them, so they try to be somebody they're is not. The lyric ''All the things I could live without I need it now 'cause they're all around me'' tells that they need to be what they don't want to be but they are. The beginning of the video says ''This is a story of temptation through time...'' (temptation: to entice to do wrong by promise of pleasure or gain) possibly meaning that they're promised a good life keeping this lifestyle. This brings us back to the religion from Sick Boy. The religion is belief in a good life while being isolated from humanity 90% of their lives and being cannibals basically, but once you promise to follow the religion, you can't go back . Side Effects doesn't show any connection so far so we aren't gonna go in to that... Save Yourself. The name says everything. They're telling us to not trap ourselves by following this sick religion. Even the lyrics say ''I should have known what I started, you should know where your heart is, but I don't''. They probably didn't collab with NGHTMRE because they like his style of music. They collabed with him to tell us that this religion is a LIVING NIGHTMARE . This video doesn't add much up other than it shows Andrew trying to escape the evil religion/cult he joined. But it still does help add up to the story. (Anonymous Jones pointed out)There’s also the Hollywood sign burning and Hollywood up in smoke. Hell. In other words, selling your soul. Now comes where I'm stumped. I can see ''This Feeling'' maybe having connection to ''Side Effects''', but I doubt that they would be doing two stories at a time. What I did find in this song though is some lyrics that could connect to our ''Sick'' story. ''I'll lay out all my reasons, you'll say I need help'', referring to Andrew's gang making the choice to follow the religion/cult. Also ''We all got expectations, but sometimes they go wrong'', referring to Andrew realising how bad of a choice it was to follow the religion/cult. I know that this might be dumb because this is a love song, but these snippets of lyrics can still mean something, right? I might do one theory on ''Side Effects - This Feeling'' if another song comes out that has connection to both... As always, See you next song!
