Wow amazing. Do you remember when your dad filmed this. I grew up round here. I used to play in the woods ( the dingles they were called ) where your dad entered the hatch with the cage. I took my kids down here the other day.

I grew up in Pinner but live about 8 miles away now. I would say this was late 80s, not entirely sure though, my lovely dad passed away 18 months ago so I really glad you like the video

13/02/2022 at 19:21: The area he is standing at 3:05 has turned into an allotment and my mum owns a plot in it. The woods behind it have lots of flint nodules in the ground because of the chalk mines. I have dug some of hem up and have used them for the allotment. I will edit this comment when I have done a 360° and added it to google maps and I will add a link to show the land has changed since then.

Did you ever do this? I'd be fascinated to see it if you do! I remember these mines from my childhood in the early 90's. I actually remember finding a small hole in the dingles woods on the surface in the undergrowth that on reflection, probably links through to the mines below (this was before I knew there were mines - I was just a kid mucking around in the woods and had no idea what was under my feet at the time!). My friends and I were fascinated with it. Come to think of it, it could possibly be a bit of a hazard if it's not been mapped out or covered yet and and if it only has a thin ceiling between the surface and the cavity below...
