I still listen to their music, Am 52 now, and bought Script of the Bridge when it came out. This band is so underrated it hurts, then again, they never got to the point of being commercial, which so many bands did and got worse. It is perfect. Just brilliantly perfect, after all these years, I still play and listen to this.. Just brilliant.

Very underrated band... I've got a few of their stuff & still play it now&then

@@stuartmorley3836 So do I, I bought 4 cd's of them in the 80's and still play them regularly. Indeed very underrated, which is a shame.

I got their first three all as imports as they were easier to find. Actually, had them booked to play at UCLA when I was Concert Director at the time but it fell through a week prior since their manager was killed in an accident.

Absoflippinglutely. My older mate introduced me to the chameleons. We'd listen to them in his bedroom whilst discussing literature and philosophy, thinking we were so intellectual. Hes an art tutor and I'm a primary school teacher, yup we changed the world!! Still love the chameleons though.

They were my everything and I still can't get my head around why they never achieved massive success.
@haileysvomit8 жыл бұрын
+Anton Haq the answer is simple, They were to fucking good, i saw them live back in 1985, totally blew me away, but the answer i think is the lyrics were the truth about a lot of things and media and record companies just couldnt handle them, also at that time there were a few more trendy bands, pushed to the front. i agree but what does making it really mean, money, fame ? in my mind making it is whats happening now, thousands of hits on YT, people listening to the old tunes , surely thats what a band wants proper recognition for their amazing tunes, think about it ,if they had got rich they could have turned into a run of the mill band, instead they made 3 excellent albums as the chameleons, and their music will be timeless...thats their success i think !
@antonhaq35038 жыл бұрын
haileysvomit I just feel that they were massively under rated, like lyrically and musically it's as good as it gets, staggering lyrics. I know what you're saying about success, but I went to college with Reg after they split and it just seemed so unjust that he was reduced to an art student on a foundation course. He was a brilliant artist, he did the covers, they were all nice guys and it would have been great if they could have made a living from their art. I think more people appreciate them now and I'm sure their music won't be forgotten, I suppose that's the greatest success of all. I know Mark occasionally tours as Chameleons Vox but there are strong rumours of a proper reunion tour. I've seen them live loads of times, but just one more time would be fantastic.
@haileysvomit8 жыл бұрын
Yes your totally right, i couldnt agree more, they should have course made a living from their art, such talent. Its so annoying, i ahve met so many amazing artists and musicians in my life time , even my own son whos made some stunning tunes, he gave up in the end and went to work for a computer company, after putting so much effort and money into making music, its almost criminal, its strange i was just speaking to an old mate a few days ago, he was explaining to me, how he was just in the right place at the right time, and became the guitarist for lots of Julian copes tunes, and produced loads of music, yet he was saying he thought my sons production and musicianship was better than his !! , its a mad world, and to be honest the music business is just nasty,all hype and money orientated , i mean i just cant fathom it out. All i know is when script of the bridge came out, and the next few albums, for me personally, they were and still are my all time fav albums, , they deserve so much more your right, i think as i said, they are now becoming a cult band it seems and rightfully so, in my opinion, the very best band we have ever had here in the UK.., ha,ha,ha, bloody amazing, take care , thanks for your reply..phil
@haileysvomit8 жыл бұрын
By the way it would be totally awesome for them to have a reunion, i would deffo go and see them again, but only as they were originally i think.. take care , p

My dad used to listen to 91X in the 80-s (a local college Radio station that was leftist...but then again most colleges are! Oh, well) ..anyhoot--I know if I would have showed him this in the 90-s, he would have loved it...my dad trusted my taste in music and we would be jammin' all the time to so many various genres of music...and when I's go visit my dad close to his dying day...he was so happy to hear songs I'd play off my cellphone for him...we'd DJ together all the time with my sister...fond memories...toward the end, when he fell sick, I would play a lot of tunes of nostalgia..and suggested my sister do it when I couldn't go over there for various sad reasons...and that kept him hopeful of getting better to go back to "su gente in Sud America." Viva, la buena musica!!! Dios mio, como sana gozarlo!!! Love you Daddy-0....you were a "Cool Cat!"a Hep Cat!

Cherry Red calls this a 'goth' song and included it on their Silhouettes and Statues box set. though, not so sure i concur with that assessment. still one of my fave Chameleons songs. not sure why it wasn't included on Script of the Bridge, but then again it has too much of an angry, cynical feel and wouldn't jive with the mood of the rest of the album.
