Looks so great! Real changes and improvements over time. I would love to see a season-ending “declutter” of the yards in preparation for winter. A final clean up of the gardening pots, etc. and maybe some pressure washing - including all of the toys and playground equipment. I think they’ll clean up nicely! Keep up the great work!

Also does the tree guy have a wood chipper and you can use those chips for more pathways? Clarke is loving all the space too. Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 🙇‍♀️👏👍💪🙏💐🦮

You have made outstanding progress. You didn't know you had a green thumb. Regarding your petunias, I have discovered that they are squirrel salad. I had gorgeous plants and watched my squirrels sit and munch on the petals and leaves. I have almost nothing but bare stems 🤷‍♀️ Please also be mindful of squirrel homes when taking down the trees, especially as there could be babies. They will build dreys in the tree canopy and in hollow spaces of dying trees. Love the expansion of a back lawn. It will be such a fun space for your grandkids to play. With more sun, have you considered a small vegetable garden? It would be great fun for the grandkids to help grow and harvest. Under the new tree line, you could plant flowering rhododendron. The deer aren't interested in them. Azaleas are also beautiful flowering shrubs, but some deer really enjoy them. Hellebore is a beautiful shade flowering perennial. Bleeding heart and daffodils would give beautiful color. They also hate peonies, which have gorgeous blooms. Can't wait to see what you do next!

Owning a home is really quite a lot of work! I had to sell mine a few years ago because I just couldn't do it anymore, then I couldn't find people to even pay to do the work. And my yard and house was much smaller. I also tried planting some Cosmos one year. I was horrified by how huge they got! They dwarfed the front of my tiny home and my little garden.

Yes, Jodi, it's amazing what you have done in your gardens! Pat yourself on your back for a job well done! I know there's more to do. Getting those 3 big trees removed will help a lot! You should keep a written record of everything, where you put these flowers & why they didn't make it or just didn't make it because of the weather, etc! That way, you'll know what you need to do next year! But I'm amazed at how everything has grown so much! You do have a green thumb! Have a wonderful week & take care! Jodi, so much work! I don’t know how you did it all. I’m inspired by your success with annuals. I always buy perennials so that I don’t have to replant every year, but your snapdragons, petunias, & zinnias are so BEAUTIFUL that I plan on copying you next year. Your flowers are so colorful & happy. PS: THANK YOU for mentioning ChipDrop. What a wonderful service. I just received my first delivery, & I’m thrilled. The tree-cutter dropped off 20 cubic yards of wood chips, which translates into $500 of mulch (if I were to buy it by the bag at Home Depot). Sometimes there IS such a thing as a free lunch.

Lol, speaking of wildlife, you might find an interest in our latest wildlife in the yard. My son was walking our dog over beside our trailer, and a hawk was sitting on the chainlink fence between us and the next trailer beside a mulberry tree that wont support its weight. So shocked it is hanging out in a 12ish foot divided area, and I havent seen it yet, but hoping it isnt injured.

Jodi your yard has come so far and I enjoy seeing the pleasure you received from tending to it. I love doing my gardens in the summer too. I look forward to it. I have noticed the dahlias seem to prefer slightly cooler temps. I live in New York. I wonder if that beds getting too much sun. Who knows I kill half my stuff it’s been a lot of trial and error depending which of my beds and pots get too much sun or too much shade. It’s all a learning process. Also we had such a hot summer I feel like I should have watered twice instead of once a day for better results but just didn’t get a chance to do that. It’s still so fun though seeing everything take off and grow. Also I crack up seeing you talk to your little wildlife friends. Like snowhite over there. I do suggest filling your front bed with mulch though to polish it off next year. But I know it’s a process. Wondering how many leaf bags you’ll fill this fall. lol. We may be watching part 762 of leaf clean up lol

Hi, 👋 Jodi. Watched but mostly listened through while do some kitchen clean up. Today is a good day for crockpot Chili as it's supposed to rain all day and most of the night. I eat soups and stews and chilis all year long as they help with hydration plus most don't realize that in summer when it's hot they will INITIALLY make you feel hotter but by adding more fluids and forcing the body's thermostat to kick over to "COOL ME DOWN QUICK" mode you will feel better after the overheating bit. This was quite a blast from the past. Yes. You have definitely made radical improvements. It's good to have future goals. Suggestion: all those plants that got massive enjoyed this years weather. Get seeds from flowers NOT deadheaded from each you liked how they did. And label by location and size as well. Those that didn't do so well ( EXCEPT THE BURNT HOSTAS), may do better next year if there's less rain. Do you have a garden journal? Where you get a spiral notebook or such and for each year writ down what you plant, where and what conditions were like on planting. Plus spend 5 minutes every week to write down weather conditions. (EX. Rained all week this week. Temps ranged from 75*f-120*f. Front hill area drained into low area & created a boggy area.) Then you can check back for conditions that each preferred with that kind of weather for the future. It will help in future gardening decisions on what to move, when & why. You could keep it by your editing space & not notes as you edit and your thoughts are jostled to important stuff to remember in future years. Gardening is not the same every year. Weather changes often, trees grow, lose limbs or get cut/fall down.. That's my 2 ¢ worth. Gramma kept these journals. She would put markers out the top of the journals for what she planted, bottom was for weather and the side was for changes in beds or amendments she used, like horse vs. chicken manure & tree/leaf compost & bone meal. Hope this helps future you!!

Dahlias are a lot of work compared to normal perennials or annuals. Would pots be easier so you don't have to dig every year and can just stick some in the garage and divide every few years?

My zinnias were labeled 18 in to 2 ft. They got over 5 ft. I didn’t have the heat to rip them out , so I had a zinnia jungle.

You never really talked about why you guys never gardened or removed the leaves with fall or spring clean ups. What made you not do it for so long and what made you start now.

As I’m watching Ali g the video I keep commenting like the difference in the “woods” is so large. I wonder if you ever miss some of the privacy of the woods from the neighbors. Even though I know you love the open space.
