Wow! Loved this episode ITH! The number one characteristic I see Jesus display to His 12 is servitude. After Jesus washes His disciples feet He asks them if they know why He did it. He then tells them that if He would wash their feet, they ought to do the same for each other. Jesus, the Teacher and Lord, does the duty of a servant to demonstrate how we are to treat others. Also, he says it again Mark 10:45 when two disciples get a little ahead of themselves wanting to sit at Jesus’ right and left. He tells them that even He did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. It seems that this characteristic or servitude is not just for others, but for ourselves. It can keep us from puffing up when we think we are doing much for God and others. I remember a verse that you encouraged me in Andrew was Luke 17:10. One thing we say here in Massachusetts is, “Don’t just do acts of service, be an active servant.” Jesus was an active servant!

So good guys! Thanks for the reminder Abigail that being a disciple isn't just about the outward appearance-the disciplines, the good deeds etc., but ultimately to love & be devoted to Jesus. As He said, The Greatest commandment is to love God with all of your being & your neighbor as you love your very self, and that in fact: all the Law (Torah) & the Prophets hang on it. In essence: if we do not love God & the people He has made and are devoted to that-we are missing the point altogether. It's the balance of faith & works: it's not "either or" it's "both and." Great podcast guys! Looking forward to next weeks'!
