I remember seeing Tim on the cover of the NME must have been around 1989 . The whole world ar his feet. Darlings of the indie scene. Devilishly handsome. I was so envious. Made some killer tunes. Weirdo is my favourite , but this one occupied a special place at the birth of a scene.

Tim was so cool looking back in early 2000's. He just looked the part but I've never really been able to jump on this look he's been sporting for over a decade now. Those gigs at that time felt like the best gigs in the world to be at, at places like Empress Ballroom in Blackpool. Incredible life affirming experience's and all really before mobile phones took hold so the crowd were always so up for it. Seeing them as a 15 year old in 2002 in Blackpool was just so great AND mental and I became obsessed for a number of years seeing them as many times as I could afford and travel to once I hit the age to be able to do it. They were all that really mattered in hindsight at the time. But once Jon tragically passed away, I felt a magic kind of disappear and I've never seen them since. That groove Jon had was really quite unique, to the point where I'd say he was irreplaceable. Fair play to them for trying to carry on but it just isn't the same, well for me anyway. But there's always the memories :)

Blimey that got a bit deep, probably good that you missed out on the Madchester scene, those white doves would have sent you to the loony bin, Tim isn’t trying to be ‘cool’ for his look for the attention, his look is how he wants to look and doesn’t give a fk what ppl think of it, that’s what cool is James (edited) Barton For some the Bald look is cool, James(edited)Barton that does not apply to you. Thank you and good night

I gotta agree, Jon's passing affected their continuing sound for some reason; I think he was the true heart of the band in a way. I'm more inclined to believe Tim getting off drugs and finding transcendental meditation has done more to move the band into a middling sound now tho, closer to his solo stuff. They are still great live -- just saw them last month in Toronto, touring "Between the 10th & 11th" anniversary -- and I will always be a fan, but I wish the band would push out of their softer phase and explore new territory again. Cheers.
