FocusFanatic I completely disagree, you get a big sense of dredd when John and his men are exploring the underground lab in the beginning of the film, you get a big sense of dredd in the final act in the Skynet base/factory, there's more I can think of as well. That's why the practical effects for the machines worked so well in the film, it's a nice combination that gives Salvation "dredd".
@gin.5905 жыл бұрын
@FocusFanatic She wasn't the "face" of anything actually, Skynet took the appearance of her because of her connection to Marcus, it's for a deeper impact (hence why they also took the appearance of Kyle and John for a moment) to get Marcus to do his mission and stop resisting. I don't know where you're getting the "all machines looked CG" comment from either, everything from it has aged greatly and still looks more than solid enough for a decade old film.

I'm a Terminator fanboy but the thing that annoyed me about this movie is that it kept throwing member berries at me. I wanted it to be its own film but it felt like a nostalgia checklist. Something Jar Jar Abrams would do if he made it. They even threw Marcus in as an improvised machine guardian for John Connor. I don't hate it. I love it, but it still bugs me. (Also I would have made the T-800 completely keyframed instead of mocap if I were in charge. T-RIP looks too fluid and natural. It even walks with a slight hunch.)

@geeebuttersnap24332 жыл бұрын
The pilots were going to take evasive maneuvers regardless if John told them to or not. He just said it because he’s worried about his men and women under his command. Since he is stuck there he can’t do anything about it. He’s feeling helpless and powerless and expresses that through his commands. The only thing he can do is tell them evasive maneuvers. Unlike other military officers, he has to worry about every man and women under his command, because they are finite, every soldier who dies under his command is one more closer to defeat and the extinction of humanity. He can not view them as expendable assets, he has to view them as an extension of himself, and every one person he loses that is a piece of himself that gets cut off. But he also has to be a strong leader and not get overwhelmed or distraught at their deaths otherwise he can’t lead the rest of his men and women to victory against an overwhelming force that is seemingly endless and bent on the total annihilation of the human race.

I love when sci-fi films abandon the "everything is humanoid" trope, especially for combat units. For a huge number of modern/near-future combat applications, the human form just sucks. It was only ever a thing because; a) a low-budget '80s film like T1 could hardly afford to do otherwise, and; b) because the Terminators were specifically designed as infiltrator units. It was sheer coincidence that the T-800 Model 101 also happened to meet the criteria for SkyNet's desperate hail-Mary time-travel gambit. Edge of Tomorrow also did a good job with that.

This movie really drove home what Skynet was using in the war and that it wasnt just an army of what was basically a T-800 without skin that had a plasma rifle in the 40 Watt range. In this movie Skynet actually fielded such a nice variety of vehicles that all made really good sense, from the thrust-vectoring pursuit planes (nice throwback to T3 and T2) to the Moto-Terminators (because before you make a legged killing robot, you should always have a wheeled killing robot. Much simpler. Also weirdly remind me of Geth.) to the combo of Harvester and Transport craft working in a perfect tandem.

if they hadn't do the execution scene as the opening, it'll be great and adds to the mystery. The opening should be showing nukes flying and first machines. Have the audience thinking him having amnesia due to a battle and wandering aimlessly until he meets Kyle. That falling into the river scene should be made vague enough to fool the audience or have him ride on top of a HK aerial and the HK shake him down to fall into the river from believable heights. They should reveal him little by little.

I wished the following a Terminator film centered around Reese becoming a bad ass. Afterwards, a film to tie in going back in time would’ve made things come full circle.

I really love the gritty post-apocalyptic tone and feel of this film. Even though the film wasn't all that great to some people, I thought it was a good step in the right direction for the series. Sadly the films that followed were templates or soft reboots.

The only 2 bad things about Salvation:- #1 Most of the movie takes place in broad daylight, whereas all of T1&T2's future scenes were shot at night. This is also the reason why they didn't have lasers in Salvation, lasers in daylight wouldn't look as good. #2 IT HAS... NO STORY... okay it looks like it has a story but it doesn't! Characters just jump from random action scene to the next random action scene. No wonder why some people hate Salvation. Other than that, everything else is great. The DieselPunk aesthetics of the machines are awesome, the Practical Effects on Terminators look amazing and the actors of kyle&john are great. Salvation >>>>> Dark Shit anyday.

We are in 2018 at the beginning of the resistance & the technologies developped by skynet did have not reach their maximum yet. This was supposed to be a trilogy, so you can easily think the 2nd episode was going to be darker and with more advanced technologies.
@saulloll85475 жыл бұрын
@@jomo3564 THANK YOU. People fail to realize that they had pushed Skynet so far in time and the war was just starting. That's the reason they sill rely on metal bullets.

It did have night scenes. When the pilot and Marcus are travelling towards the base. Marcus trying to escape, Connor going to Skynate base, Connor trying out their new "secret" weapon.... Did you even watch the movie?
@விஷ்ணு_கார்த்திக்5 жыл бұрын
@@saulloll8547But still, majority of the movie and its climactic scenes still take place in the daylight. It effects the movie's tone a bit. In an interview JC mentioned that he extended the shooting time of T1 just to make sure to shoot most of its scenes at night because they gave the movie more of a horror vibe.

The feeling of the original terminator future war wasn't there either, that one was bleak almost hopeless struggle humanity had no army no resistance fighters until Conner taught people (civilians) how to smash the machines this has been totally lost now with the new film.
@slickbricknick1233 жыл бұрын
If the writing was better and they focused more on the fighting in the future, this series of terminator movies could have been its own special series. The original two are good and this could have been wonderful.

I always questioned why Skynet chose the motorbike as a weapon systems. It’s dangerous for humans but with an intelligent AI system it can perform to its full potential. It’s a fast and nimble weapons system that can deliver deadly firepower when “chasing” humans.

Growing up as a kid in the 2000s this was one series reboot I was waiting for the sequel on for years wondering why it never came about. Saw it in theaters with my parents when it first came out and loved it. Never understood why anyone hated it. To me, it did a good job. I always loved the trope of individual thinking they're human only to find out they're a terminator. It was new. Hell, I even liked how a Terminator, (Sam Worthington) fell in love with a human. That was new too. I was raised around lots of popular films of the past and then, present time growing up so, yeah. This, T1 and T2 are still my favorites. Growing up I liked T3 though as an adult I tend to look away at that film now.

I like the Harvester and Moto-Terminators with one of the reasons being: IT MAKES *SENSE* Like- How do you make the Skin of T-800? Where you going to get something to replicate human skin? Probably nowhere, so what's the very next best thing? Humans. How you gonna get humans? You need a machine capable of Harvesting them but also durable enough to take quite a massive amount of punishment, and weaponry capable of destroying anyone who tries to get away on a speeding vehicle. And what happens when they're out of a Harvesters Range? MOTO-TERMINATORS. Even not in a Harvester sense, just imagine the use in a war, where people could very well be on a speeding vehicle. Why waste the possibility of a Terminator getting destroyed focusing on a vehicle, when you have a Terminator that can chase one with a greater if not equivalent speed. They may not work like that, but I'm just pointing out ideas that very well make their existence LOGICAL. like you know- *A machine is*
