In this video I will be providing an update on the Trifox and Elves Falath new UCI model. I'll also be opening/unboxing some Elitewheels and responding to a video recently published by Hambini. Mostly to mitigated further provocative comments/sentiment on this channel about BMC. You'll know my view by the end of this video.

I thought I should reply to this. Firstly, Cam messaged me asking if he could use video and refer to it and I didn't object in any way at all. Censorship sucks and silencing peoples opinions is not the way forward. I would stress that whilst I respect Cam's opinion, I certainly don't agree with it. The faults identified on the frame are not age related, they are the result of some very poor design decisions and alleged quality control that seems to have been "missed". One of the areas I have become more involved with in recent times is providing expert witness commentary to people who are pursuing claims against bike companies for faulty goods and insurance claims. The faults on that frame - especially around the touching rivnuts would (IMO) be almost impossible to defend should a fracture occur in that location. It goes against good engineering practice and there is evidence that either the design or execution is faulty. Parking that to one side, the frame and BMC as a whole market themselves on superior engineering, quality and their Swiss roots. Given the cost, I think the defects that were found were unacceptable. Plenty of people will say I'm being hard on them, I do own a BMC Timemachine TT bike so I'm trying to remain objective. And regards the 500 euros for the bottom bracket shout out, that was not Cam.

Cam hits a fine point here… manufacturers are always gonna have some products that squeeze thru their quality assurance testing that are flawed… some more than others… the important part is the customer service provided after… resolving those issues quickly (and fairly) keeps a customer “a customer”… blowing them off, well in the age of social media isn’t very smart…. Kudos to Sony (one of my fav’s) for having a team available on a Sunday to help…🍻

I assembled a bike with the Trifox x16 frame, Sensah 11 speed Empire, Elite (disc/thru axle) 60's. All parts through AliExpress. Took 8 weeks to get parts to Indiana. My background is Triathlon TT back in the 90's with a modified Trek 1200. Loved doing this build. I love the rigidity/weight/aero profile. The big knock I have is the noisy hub from Elite (maybe I can fix/modify this? HELP!). Was sent the wrong frame color but fell in love (glossy black). Handlebars never came (got refund). Amazon to the rescue. The jury is out on disc brakes (if I were doing it over again...). Also lost compatibility with my old wheels (another reason I shoulda gone rim brake/skewer). Bought new carbon mtb pedals - notchy bearings - twisted shaft trying to loosen. Went back to old set of pedals. I'm super impressed with what I spent and what I ended up with. ~1800 - one heck of a bike.

I can remeber how nervouse I was the first time I bought suction bike rack. Took my AL bike for a spin on the local mouintain with lots of braking and sharp turns. It gave me lots of confidence to start using it with my CF bikes. Looking back it's probably the best and most practical thing I bought for the bike.

@@pierrex3226 we're using this style of lifting devices in the factory I work for and there is zero issues for the last few yeras as we have them. Granted the time they are engaged for is a lot shorter then one installed onto the car. The only issues i ever had with suction mouting was with Garmin gps holders for the windshield....

Back in the day Upside down racks were the Only rooftop racks. It made it easy to find registration at the bike race because all you had to do was drive to race town, look for upside down bikes on roofs & follow them. Soon you were at the race packet pickup.

A few years ago after a friends rooftop bike mounts failed on the Westgate another friend and I had the idea of mounting a bike upside down utilising the designed stress points of handlebars and saddle but killed the idea as we thought nobody would drive with a bike upside down on top of their car.......seems were wrong. Also as much as fork mounts and axle widths change, handlebars and saddles stay relatively consistant.

I use sea sucker on my car which cannot take roof racks. Not been let down so far and don't need to put them on upside down, or use anything electronic. Best of all, they are usually part of PBK discount codes making them much cheaper if you can wait for a good code

But I'm wondering if they would have the same opinion knowing that the Trifox could be fully built up with the Sensha Empire group for the price of just the Elves frame? Kind of a bang for the buck comparison. Sure the Elves was finished nicer, but does that equate to the price different between the two? I've never had any experience with those suction cup roof racks, and I'm sure they work really well, but I would be constantly freaking out. Not only that, but I'm sure having three suction cups holding onto my paint over a prolonged period of time would not be the best thing for the finish. I'll just stick with my traditional bike rack. Also, we have multiple bikes, so that wouldn't work even in ideal circumstances. As to the BMC issue, I quite agree with you. No company has a perfect record. I had a Shimano Ultegra crank snap in half while smashing it up a hill one day. Does that mean Shimano makes garbage? Of course not. They immediately replaced it free of charge and I've never had the same issue. Just keep making your videos and pay no mind to the haters. I'm really interested to see how these two bike builds turn out.

Cam I agree about the big companies sometimes end up with a faulty product - case in example is my top of the range pinarello dogma f that cracked on its own at the seat stays without any crashes or knock off. I am expecting them to change the frame under warranty. And I am not the only one with the problem as there are lots of similar issues found across the globe. But I am sure they will look after the customers by replacing it. As for Hambini, the guy often comes down to how round the bottom bracket hole is. I am sure he must have fans enjoying his sub standard humour, but I am not one of them and his opinion doesn’t drive decisions at all.

If you are super confident in BMC send Hambini your BMC frame for a look. It would help out his channel and yours. If the frame get reamed by him that's good content. Down the Hambini rabbit hole, yikes. I'm in the process of a trip from Tassie to Bright, Canberra, Melbourne and back. We have the Thule Easyfold Xt tow bar bike rack. Two bikes load on easy, the whole thing folds down to access the boot of the subie station wagon, goes awesome, highly reccommend. Bikes on roofs scare the crap out of me.

Differences between a camera overheating and a frame being made crap is one is quite obvious to the consumer and the other isn't. Mmmm bike didn't appear to pass the 'wiggle' test there before you got in, not 100% confident but hopeful these work at highway speeds for extended time+, as the boot rear mounts or any other mounts really are a pain in the ass to use etc.

Good luck with the Trifox. Mine had poorly machined BB threads, a BB over 70mm wide against a BSA68 spec and rear dropouts too small to fit a wheel in. After 3 months of trying they have agreed to refund me (but not the shipping costs or my mechanic’s costs of attempting a build) as long as I saw through the frame so it can’t be used (their build quality means it can’t be used!😂). So basically it was a useless waste of time, not even capable of being built up.

Love Hambini and I appreciate all his input. However, I just finished my 2022 BMC SLR01 Team Machine size 51 Full DA 12 speed build. The freaking bike rides like an absolute dream. Lamborghini cornering with the comfort of a sedan. It's hard to say everything is shit based off of one frame. There is always going to be some bad ones out of the 1000s they make. My personal opinion is they don't really pay much attention to those lower end frames as they do the higher end frames.

The Hambini crowd did overwhelm my comments after his video, and with two more pieces of bmc content to come I wanted to address it. So yes, when I feel there’s a theme through comments/messages etc I will respond. However, by sizeable you might want to go look at all my videos. I feel update videos make up less than 1% of my content.
