It's been 14 years since I purchased my first Land Cruiser - an FJ62. I've been waiting and waiting to find another 62 series at a good price and have finally found one! I reckon this is the lowest priced Land Cruiser that's been on the market for a long time! They only produced the 62 series for 3 years so the number imported to the states was around 17,000 which makes these an absolute gem!
I apologize for the poor focusing as I'm learning how to work with my new Canon R6 Mk II!

“Cheapest Land Cruiser on earth build” should be the name of the series. This deserves some eyeballs.

First off - Yes, Asin Hubs were orginal. Secondly, I admire your ambition - no doubt! I own a FJ40, FJ60 and an FJ62, love the Landcruisers. You have this listed as a 1987 and I will say since it has manual windows, it is actually a 1988. The 1987 U.S. was still an FJ60. This will be an expensive resoration, but you will have fun with the right attitude and will certainly learn a lot. Best Wishes!

That’s what I was thinking that they only made them from 1987-1988. But ion the title and on the door vin inspection plate it’s says 87! Definitely going to be an expensive restoration but I’m planning on doing a Ute chop so at least that’ll take care of half of the body work🤣

That was a good move to cut the skin in order to access the fuel pump. Now you have a good reason to make an access panel door with bolts (Just like in the 80 series to change the fuel pump). I think that was a great score for $500! The process of restoring it will give you more learning experience and better skills for future projects. It’s like going to school without leaving your home.

You know what I didn’t even think about that! Totally doing it! I got super lucky right? Yeah it’s going to be heeps of work but I can envision the finished product and it’s gives me motivation. Possibly thinking a single cab Ute

@@Austin_SaintOnge all my race cars have access plates like that. Easy access to the fuel pump. I’m doing a 6x6 crew cab with my 80. Trying to get a 12 valve NV4500 hasn’t been easy, but that’s what I want! I’ll probably be using 1 Ton full width axle in the front and some “609” full width Twin axles in the rear (it’s a 9” center section with DOM tubes just like in a Dana 60). Disc brakes, etc. I’m having a hard time finding a machine shop that can make me a “pass through” 9” shaft. If I can’t find one, I’ll use a transfer case. It’ll be crew cab unibody bed, like a G wagon 6x6.

@@devil2jz500 dude that thing will be a beast! 12 valve nv4500 definitely would be a great candidate for that platform. I have complete confidence that it’ll be able to push those axles. How did you make the access plate? Riv nuts with an overlapping plate?

lol glad I could fall on that grenade for ya bud!😂 yeah she’s a rust bucket for sure. Someone mentioned on fb that they purchased a hood for their 60 on cruiser corps and the gaps were like 1/4-3/8 inch off on both sides. So I’ll probably just cut out/bend some steel and see how close I can get it. You talking about your 80? Or do you have a 60/62?

@@Austin_SaintOnge my lx450, was pretty bad when I got it. but can't even tell it was rusty.
@Austin_SaintOnge
@Austin_SaintOnge 7 ай бұрын
@jgcruisers nice so you took care of all of it. Yeah I’ve owned 4 80s now and none of them have really had bad rust at all. But I’m assuming they all spent the majority of their time in the pnw or west coast (no salt) also I think the thicker metal used on the 80s helps. The 60s and 62s are visibly less robust and they’ve been around another decade longer than 80s as well and they’re starting to show their age!

@@Austin_SaintOnge I think this one is a good candidate for a Dirty 30 type build. Throw a nice flat bed or canopy on it with a mild lift. Could flip it for a profit once finished.
@Austin_SaintOnge

@chandleremerine6130 that’s what I’m thinking 🤔 since I already am starting ahead with the price, and I can save money on the panel repair by just chopping the whole thing.
