Another tip. When you are viewing the book/set you like, scroll down to where the comments are and there is a section that shows where the book is included in. For example if you are look at a commentary, it may be included in a legacy liberary for cheaper than the set costs, more books for pess money.

I've found that buying base packages in different traditions (Reformed, Anglican, etc.) is a good deal, after you've carefully checked which commentaries are high quality.

I've gotten a lot of excellent books by adding multiple packages, such as starter Baptist, Lutheran and Standard. The additional libraries cost little and add a ton of books. The legacy libraries also work this way. I'm about to add 3 legacy bronze libraries for $100 and gain dozens of Greek and Hebrew resources apart from the 200 new commentaries and other books.

Yes, base packages are certainly great bang for your buck! I love the legacy packages! One of the primary ways I have built my library over the years has been utilizing the new base package offerings.

I have had Logos for several years. They have a free version. I have the free Logos version and over the years I have accumulated 838 books. The free version is basically just the last revision before the one they sell now. It updates to the newer version when they introduce a new version. You are always one revision behind. It is plenty powerful and serves my purpose.

Sort of yes and no! Typically the free version is released 3-5 months after the paid version for major updates (8, 9, 10 etc) and then after that it gets the same regular updates as the paid version every 6 weeks or so. But the free version of Logos 10 is much less full-featured than, say, Logos 6 gold. The app updates mean the stuff you have never stops working, but the cost of Logos is a combination of the costs of the books and the features. I have just convinced a colleague that Logos is worth getting just to get the Faithlife Study Bible and the Lexham Bible dictionary (both are excellent) and the huge bunch of freebies available there. But that was after I was just generally talking about how much I liked the app, and showing off a lot of paid features that she wouldn't have. Had to kinda dial back her expectations. I do still think it's the best free app for bible study (though not the one I'd recommend if they just wanted a free bible with audio and a good choice of translations - just a bit overwhelming for some needs).

I believe you can still add-on Spanish resources that Logos makes available. Additionally, they have a translate feature in Logos, but I’m not sure how easy it is to translate into Spanish. It works great for English.

Unfortunately my favourite building hack no longer works. In the days of software on CD I used to go and buy collections at very deep discount out out of date versions of Logos. I already had the current version, but by installing these old versions it unlocked lots of extra books to my account.
