I'm watching from Reno Nevada but I'm originally from East Los Angeles. I was born at the USC medical center in 1962 (El hospital general) is what the people used to call it. My older cousins marched down Whittier Blvd during the Chicano Power Riots to protest the killing of Ruben Salazar inside the Silver Dollar bar by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's. Mr Salazar was a writer with the Los Angeles Herald Examiner and he had written about the racism in the ranks of the Sheriff's department towards Latinos and Blacks and that's what got him killed. I was probably 10 years old but they took me to see what was going on. Chicano's have been here a long time and Cheech Marin is a great example of the positive vibe that our people have and bring to our great nation. I'm going to take a ride to Riverside to see your beautiful museum as soon as I can. Thank you Cheech.

My husband and I LOVEEEE The Cheech! I've had to privilege to see many of the paintings featured here in person. We recently went for the anniversary celebration and met so many amazing artists and bought cool art/jewelry from the stands. It was amazing, thank you Cheech and team!

Thank you Mr. Marin for what you do for the Raza, the community. For giving them a minute of your time and showing the world the uniqueness and diverse works of art the Chicano is capable of presenting and sharing with us! ART IS BEAUTIFUL! ART IS CAPTURING A MOMENT IN TIME AND HOLDING IT STILL FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.

My father Armando Núñez came from Mexico to El Paso and eventually to San Diego where he became one of the main Chicano park muralist back in the late 60s thru the present, and a big contributor to the Chicano arts. My mom just told me they were planning a trip to the museum. I loved this program! Super informative. Gracias Cheech✊🏽

Hi, Cheech! Way back in '78, I was playing drums for Bobbie Gentry in her production shows at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. You and Tommy were doing the late show there. I have a framed enlarged photo of the Aladdin marquee that has your names on it along with Bobbie Gentry, Jim Stafford, and Frank Sinatra (for him to be at UNLV). This was in the spring of 1978. One day, I was waiting to get into the elevator in the Aladdin lobby, the doors opened and you were alone standing in the corner wearing your Bib Overalls. I was surprised. I asked you what you were doing and you said you were riding the elevator scouting people-types for characters in your new movie (Up In Smoke). I live in Riverside, Ca., not far from your terrific Center For Chicano Art. Some day, I'd like to meet you there and show you the photo...Perhaps you'd autograph it??? All the best to you and yours! Have a marvelous 2025!
