Let's talk about cheetahs, the big cat that can run really fast
You can find them in the African savannah hanging out in the grassland habitat
And no land animal is faster than a cheetah when it runs full speed
They can run up to 75 miles an hour when they're chasing down something to eat!
Known as an apex predator, they're the top of the local food chain
And it's hard for the prey to get away because the cheetah's speed is insane!!!
For a big cat, they're pretty lightweight
So it's easy for them to accelerate
When they run full speed, it's 21 feet every single stride that they take!

Another cool thing about cheetahs, they have black lines under their eyes
They're called malar stripes, and they deflect sunlight to improve the cheetah's eyesight
They only hunt during the daytime, they prowl from dawn to dusk
Over 2,000 spots provide camouflage when they're hiding out in the brush
You wanna know how the cheetah can run so fast and turn so smooth?
They use their tails to steer their bodies and stabilize how they move
Their skeleton acts just like a spring with flexible spine and hips
Their nose and lungs take in more air for those super-fast hunting trips
