The Cheviot Horseshoe (or as I call it ‘the worst route on Cheviot)

The Cheviot Horseshoe is a 10 mile walk starting at Langleeford car park. I ascended Hedgehope hill first and ending on Cheviot summit. I extended my hike by visiting Auchope cairn which made the walk 13 miles in total over tough boggy terrain.
I love this hike but coomb fell is renowned for being the worst crossing on the Cheviot hills
I hope you enjoyed coming along and if you enjoy my videos please consider subscribing and hitting the like button.
See you all soon
And remember if in doubt just get out 💗🥾

A beast of a walk Emz, Comb Fell is a sod haha, they did have some mesh down once over a bad bit but it's either sank or they removed it. No way those Minerals would have still been there on the top if I had had them in my pockets, we normally have a big packet each when we go to the afternoon cinema and mine are always gone before the the adverts are finished, way before the film starts🤣. Shame the snow was replaced by mist and mud, mind you, you were going a canny clip over the bog mind, those walking poles must have been red hot! If that was the better path, I would have hated to see the worse path 😳, I hate walking in mud and bogs, which the Cheviot always remind me of, so that must be the reason I have never climbed it🧐. That wooden plank crossing looked sketchy mind, especially with Rollo hurrying you along. Some of those deep peat trenches looked real deep and very muddy, which reminded me of the Peat Bogs of Doom going towards The Nab in the Lakes, about 16 months ago with Katy Fox, we slid down and slowly walked across one before having to climb out the other side, which she did with out any problems but I could not get out at all, she literally had to drag me out by the scruff of my neck, I am still trying to live down the embarrassment after all this time😖. It always looks a very strange summit cairn at the top of Cheviot and what a bog surrounding it too, to be honest, I think I would be happy with just the Cheviot and by the look/sounds of it from the Collage Valley but only when it is nice and warm, nice and sunny and nice and dry too! I did watch till the end, a long days walking for you but what else are you going to do on a Saturday afternoon and what else am I going to do on a wet Monday afternoon. 13 miles in 10 hours in those conditions sound dam good to me, cheers Alan
@emz_adventure
@emz_adventure Жыл бұрын
Eeh Alan that is brilliant. The part where Katy had to pull you out the bog has me howling 😂😂. I love the bogs if I’m totally honest . Just adds to the excitement. I must however train my bloody dog to give me a boost up the other side next time. Took me a while to clamber out that 2nd last trench mind I kept sliding back in the bog several times😂😂. Thank you so so much for watching 💗🥾

10 hours out hiking?? You're a bloody machine woman, poor Rolo must dread seeing you don your gaiters 😂😂 Seriously though, hats off to you for the miles and mountain / hill heights you put in - over terrain like that when it's a claarty peat-haggy bog-hopping mission it makes it even harder going, and it's not easy going on a nice summers day! Great footage of the Cheviots and how expansive and solemn yet majestic they are. Really enjoyable, loved the wee rocky 'nipple' outcrop, it was like a teeny tiny Little Standrop - shame there wasn't enough space for a tent there lol. Epic stuff Emz. What's happened to the pink heed? Hope Rolo recovered ok & hope you treated yourself to some new gaiters xx

Awww cheers man DVS. You know me I love them thar hills and if I can spend all day in them I will. Maybe I should just go and dig myself a peat bog hut and live up there 👆 😂😂. Rolo literally whinces now when I put me gaiters on cos he knows it’s not just a few mile I’m doing , he knas I mean business 😂😂. The nipple has actually got some canny spots for a tent however the hike up with a pack would be brutal like. Hope ya doing well. I’ll be watching your latest vid later after work. Looking forward to it. I’ll see ya soon me little dreed locked heeded marra. Much love to you xxx

Hi, i just watched this and recognised you as the lady we met with a chocolate lab near the bottom of the Cheviot where the finger post (I’d never heard that expression before) points down the valley back to Langleeford. You told us that you’d just crossed Comb Fell, and I asked about your Gaiters. We’ve been back to the Cheviots a few times since. I’m always scouting for wild camping spots. Thank you for sharing your video. I’m enjoying catching up on your others. Great fun 😊

@@emz_adventure Thank you for taking the time to talk with us on that chilly day. Rolo is lovely. I got a pair of Gaitors (that I love) but Grace isn’t convinced about them. We did the full horseshoe a few weeks ago with our new lurcher Bruce. I had to lift him over a couple of stiles though but he seemed to love it as much as we did. We’ve done Hadrians Wall, The Herriot Way and St. Cuthberts Way this year (all backpacking and camping) so it’s been a busy year. I’m looking at wild camping locally in the near future so I’m keen to watch some more of your videos for tips and inspiration. Thanks again 😊

@@emz_adventure St. Cuthberts was great. I did it solo and it rained almost continuously but it didn’t dampen my spirits. Yes, the Horseshoe is great but I don’t know if I’d take it on again 😂
