Chewy, I’m a white belt & have been for 3 years because I let my own mental health issues keep me off the mats. I recently got a surge of motivation and decided I want to compete for the first time (coming up 2 months from now) this podcast has really helped me keep motivated. I work in construction and sometimes after getting out I feel soar and tired & in the past have used that as an excuse to not go to class. I’ve found that listening to you talk about jiu jitsu all day keeps it on the forefront of my mind. Since I started listening no matter how soar or tired I am I’m still excited about training and excited about my first competition. That has made it so much easier to continue training. Sometimes I can’t make it to class but now I’ll hit planet fitness and do some strength and cardio work instead of just sitting on my couch and wasting the day. Just wanted to say thank you for that.

I like video recording my roll’s because I study my mistakes by rewatching it and fixing it especially with higher belts. You don’t know exactly what you did in a roll unless you rewatch it in video. Recording your rolls are very helpful but posting it for the public viewing is different. I don’t care if any videos of me getting smashed or getting submitted.

Bros you don't know how much I need this. 🔥🔥🔥 What did you guys thing about adcc? Eugene, what's your opinion on seeing so many competitors on the second day with bandages and wraps on them, all from dangerous escapes? I saw so many heel hooks escapes where their heels most of taken some damage. Wouldn't that make the injury worse especially since they have to compete the next day but understandably they have to do what they have to do to win. But is there a healthier or less injury prone way to compete in a back to back style tournament?

Hey Franz! I believe that the the ADCC is the pinnacle of grappling and these athletes will give up pretty much anything to win. I feel like they are willing to get injured in order to survive and win. Its a different mindset and I feel that these athletes are fighting and competing in the moment that they aren't worried about injuries at the time. Long-term...I agree that its dangerous and could be career-alterring in some instances as major injuries can do that...but this is the biggest and most important tournament in all of grappling and they are willing to do whatever it takes. -Eugene

Could this be a cultural attitude engrained in the US minds ? I live in the eastern part of Canada, and 99% of our rolls are never put online. NEVER. So most of our rolls are private.

Is this in response to the video of you rolling with Jordan?

Can I subscribe to the Patreon, get the warm up stretch program and then unsubscribe once I pay? Honestly I’m only interested in buying the warm up stretches

That guy with the boring monotonous voice recorded his role with you chewjitsu and posted it on his channel with really boring commentary.
