Just here to say that it's scary when there are 4 trumpets and at least 1-2 trombones playing that crazy hard middle section at 2:08 in unison... I guess that is what we get for having 7 trumpet players in Jazz Band. I'm on 3rd trumpet, but that doesn't stop it from being a smokin' part.

Experiment with the chords, instead of including the root note in every single chord you comp with, try replacing those with 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, and 13ths, Just have fun with it! but don't try so hard to AVOID using the root note. As far as rhythms and comping, it's ok to add more chords to your comping when playing more modern styles of jazz. When playing old school jazz literature, limit the amount of chords you play, and keep notes shorter. In general, play more on offbeats (ands) than on downbeats.

Here's the trick: start slow with a metronome, do it perfect slow. Gradually do it faster 👌

My drummer started the song way too fast. I'm a guitar player playing bass so I kinda died today. I feel like I have carpal tunnel.

+dalemon 1265 the song is by Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis, popularized by Jaco Pastorius, the song wasn't made by Kris Berg. Berg just did this version of it.

in my band the 2 trumpet was supposed to duet with the trombone but she was did not like fast parts so the trombone did it as a solo I she did very well becuse she was confident with herself so even if you make a mistake make it with pride becuse that is all it takes to have a good player
