We are so grateful to Ireland. You have brothers and sisters here in México. And this is your home, you help us to defend it.

Saludos desde California and the son of an Irish emigrant to America. Very proud of Los San Patricio's who fought for Mexico against the same anglo imperialism occupying Ireland. In San Francisco we an Irish-Mexico association where we honor and celebrate them annually as well as each others cultures. Viva Mexico y Erin go Bragh!

The infamous American history has always ignored The Saint Patrick Battalion, the San Patricios are considered traitors for the US Army, but we the people who hate the injustice in the world and condemn the imperialism recognize the San Patricios like heroes, they heard the call of their conscience to fight the tyranny from an invasor army, to fight on the Mexican side, Viva Irlanda!! Viva Mexico!!

You don't an idea on how much I enjoyed this video: the history, the music, the dances, my roots. And I mean it in two ways: first, I'm a Mexican born guy assn second I used to live by the former Convento de Churubusco, at the Mártires Irlandeses street, so somehow I heard the Irish stories and enjoyed its legacies. Now, having moved across the border, I'm part of the diaspora who takes its Mexican and Irish memories with pride and a touch of nostalgic.

Some day soon a tall bronze, stone or copper statue will be erected on the borderline n honor of the most important man Ry Cooder, the man of justice for the downtrodden, the most amazing music and the most excellent storyteller, yes Ry Cooder.

Not all of those guys were deserters from the U.S. Army. There were many Irish who came to Mexico because they were not welcome here due to their Catholic faith and the discrimination which followed. Many of them were Patricios too.

Magnifico disco, gracias Ry

All in all, an entertaining, informative and inspirational video. However, the beginning title is misleading in that it calls the San Patricios "conscripts." They were not draftees but regularly enlisted soldiers.
