Turns out the people who kelpt telling me different orishas was a scam but when I went to somebody here, they revealed that it was oduduwa , I'm glad that I found somebody in my state

Iboru iboya! Thank you Baba Joseph. This has been a confusing topic for me after receiving my hand and finding out I'm a child of Oduduwa. It was the first time I heard of the Orisha and finding consistent information on him was difficult. I love that you always push the notion of there not being one 'correct' path or way when it comes to certain things in the tradition. Fast forward, I was crowned Oduduwa directly in Cuba but later found out through a tamboa (not directly for me) that it is better for me not to be crowned Oduduwa directly but crowned Obatala instead. The universe has seem to be pushing me in that direction lately so it can't be ignored. I seem to be susceptible to the spirit world and although I was told my path is that of a Babalawo, from my understanding, people who are susceptible to the spirits can't be Babalawo. I'm assuming that means I will have to go down the path of a Santero? P.s your previous podcast on Oduduwa resonated so much with me, thank you!

Iboru iboya! I am glad to have found your channel on youtube - I received Oduduwa and later made Ocha, crowned with Ochanla/Obatala shortly thereafter, bc Oduduwa wanted it so. Yes, but from a ceremonial standpoint over hybridization can be counter productive. When performing any processes, pick a method and stick to it with little to no changes at least for that instance.

Two completely different spiritualities that don’t influence each other. If the person received their Hand of Ifa before getting scratched maybe they would take into account what their odu of Ifa says about the step, but even then that’s questionable. If the person has the desire, understanding, and acceptance from their Munanso, go for it.

In the Afro Cuban tradition this is a legitimate practice. It arose out of the lack of ability in the new world to be able to crown certain orishas. When in doubt crown your guardian Orisha, you can never go wrong by doing so.

@@JosephBabaIfa I’m child of Oduduwa just received it 2 months ago, also from what I’ve heard from my padrino & many other Babalawo you’re not supposed to crown obatala, you go straight to IFA. In my ceremony they even asked if I had to do santo & answer was no. Bendiciones
